Overall high quality phone, BUT WILL NOT LAST more than 1.5 years, problems start with regular use and now touchscreen is not functioning.

I say NOT WORTH THE MONEY. (never buying a Sony phone again.)

Love the phone, no issues whatsoever. Quick, reliable. Does what a smartphone should do. Am not a gamer, so can't speak to that.

Had been 25months used it, recently come out with the battery problem, it will crack out either your back panel or LCD.
Lucky my Z3c is crack out from my back panel, I replace the new battery from Sony hope can last more 1 year.

Just avoid this phone!! Got it replaced on warranty less than 6 months ago (drop-down menu and back-button stopped working), no it has started with same symptoms again, no drop-down menu! Phone still looks like new, no cracks or scratches anywhere. It is ok when it works, however it does not seem to work for a longer period of time!!!

Perfectly OK phone, excellent charging dock available, good battery life, haven't tried the weatherproofing to extremes but it's survived an outdoor lifestyle for 21 months. I agree with previous comments that the rear body material is flimsy: mine has been in a hard case from day 1 and it still has 2 cracks which will have to be fixed before the contract expires. I like the technology but for this reason would probably not buy another.

It is a good tablet phone that has all the features that I am happy with. I have no problem with all the features that it provides. However, I dislike some of the installed applications that cannot be deleted. Some of the applications are taking up much of the space in the tablet. Overall I am still happy with this tablet./

                    Avoid!
No idea what material is it made off. Have cracked LCD and rear panel twice over two months! Can not express my disappointment. It is working fine, but honestly, that is the worst screen material ever!

I have had the Z3 Compact for 2 years now, it served me very well as a smart phone, but it had some negative points that i would like to share:-

                      - the camera is not good, focus is bad, high noise in low light (If camera is an important factor to you, re-think before getting this phone)
                      - sound volume for loud speaker during calls is low, if you are in a car or a low noise is there you can not hear it.
                      - currently i am changing the phone due to a touch screen issue, the issue is that the screen got some dead spots on it, where the touch is not responding, after several searching on the web it seems to be a know hardware issue, and the screen needs to be replaced.

All of all, as mentioned the phone served me for 2 years with no hardware issue, and played it's role fine, now i'll just try to sell it to any store with the screen issue, and will but a new phone (Not a Sony).

Phone is excellent. Good battery life, flexible, easy to put in the pocket, good photos and performance. Also good sounds. But the touch screen is very bad. In many devices, the touch screen get failed. That is the only issue. Water resistancy can be avoided with the time.

The Z3C is a terrific phone. Perfect size. Fits in the pocket well. Takes great pics. Awesome sound quality. I have had mine for about eight months. No issues at all. Highly recommended. Very reliable.

Guys, I do not recomend Z3C.
I have send it to Sony service again.

After 16 months of normal usage, the wi-fi got broken. Couldn't turn it on. They have replaced the motherboard. It's a common issue, because one (or several?) batch of mo-bo's was faulty.

3 months after that (a week ago) my touch screen started to act funny. I can not drag the notification panel down. Sometime it works, most of the time not.
It's reported by lot of owners. In some cases Sony refused the warranty claiming the moisture got inside. But its IP68 phone! Mine have never seen water, never been in a pool or anything.

Sony does not have the spare parts for displays anymore so they are returning the full price.

So I had the phone 3 weeks in service in August and now maybe another 3 weeks till I get the refund.

I have ordered Samsung S7. Hope it will be better.

PS: My Z1 is still working 3.5 (4 maybe) years perfectly. I have only replaced the battery.

Not practical phone. Put it to a showcase and it will be OK. But start actually using it and it will be quickly broken.

Any phone is fragile. It is a small computer. This is not an exception. Cover your phone or buy one which can handle run down by a monster truck.
I love this model: it's a good size, it's working as it should, screen and camera is good and there is power to run my apps. It would be even better if Sony would not launch an update which removed battery saving mode options.

Yes, this phone is extremely fragile. It has a rubber flap to cover the SD slot and USB jack (as well as other flaps that are not problematic). You must detach the flap to charge the phone, at which point the flap hangs on by a rubber thread. After about 3 months, this thread inevitably broke, at which point losing the flap became just a matter of time. After losing the flap, there was no protection for the SD card, which therefore occasionally popped out. This led to a premature failure of the SD card latching mechanism, so now the SD card will not stay in the phone at all. Replacing the latch costs about $100.

Furthermore, the back of the phone is made of glass. The back glass of my phone shattered into pieces after 1 month due to a 3 foot drop on pavement, and in handling the pieces I could see that the back glass is exceptionally thin. I believe the back glass is much more fragile than the front.

In contrast, I believe the Z1 compact has a plastic back, and its SD slot and USB port are covered by independent flaps, so when the USB flap breaks off and gets lost, the SD card will remain protected. These flaps are adjacent, however, and so opening one might dislodge the other, which might result in the same problems as the Z3 compact.

The best solution in the Z compact line may be the Z5 compact. It also has an independent SD slot flap, but it is nicely isolated from everything else, so it should stay closed and protected. I believe the Z5 compact does have the thin-glass back, however.

                                    fragile !

Sometimes my z3 compact turns off and on the mobile data even though it shows it's on. Any ideas on what should I do?

This phone is great when it works, but EXTREMELY fragile. I've never dropped this phone and the screen on it shattered twice! I put a leather protective case on it as soon as I got it (the wallet-style kind with a flap that folds over the front screen and covers it completely). The first time it broke, I was told by the repair shop that the keys in my pocket may have pressed against the screen while I was walking, and broke the glass THROUGH THE LEATHER COVER. I still have no idea how it actually happened. I wear baggy cargo pants and carry 3 house keys on my key ring. Anyway, $150 later I replaced the screen only to have it shatter when I tossed the phone from my hand onto my wooden desk. The phone dropped 1 to 2" (still in the protective case) from a diagonal, underhand toss. This was not a hard throw, and lo and behold, the front and back screens both shattered. This was about a week after the first repair. Since the repair shop doesn't guarantee against physical damage, I’d have to pay them another $150 to get it fixed. No thanks. I had them put on a temporary screen so I could back up my data, pulled my SIM and gave them the phone so they would waive the cost of "data recovery". I am so glad to be rid of this phone. Its specs can't be beat, and I love the fact that it's a smaller phone, but you can't sneeze near this thing without breaking the glass. Oh, and as soon as the glass cracks, the digitizer stops reading a large portion of the screen. Sony really dropped the ball on the manufacturing. I’m never buying another phone from them again. I couldn’t eve unlock it the second time, hence the temporary screen. My Galaxy S3 mini came free with a two-year contract, and that thing lasted 3 years without a scratch. It’s still sitting in my desk, perfectly functional, but in need of a new battery. When will companies understand, ultra-light phones with space-ship features aren't worth ANYTHING if they break because a butterfly flapped its wings in the next town over. We want reliability!
