Excellent phone, would definitely go for again. Battery life the best I have had out of any phone in years (60% left at the end of a day with regular use). Camera low light is superb, though the flash light is not as good as some other (e.g. iphone 5c) but you don't really need to use it for photos, though a bit annoying when using it as a torch. Being waterproof is a great bonus and have used it a number of times underwater with great effect. Processor seems fast enough and having an option for a SD card is brilliant (£20 for an extra 64gb). Build quality seems good and its nice to have things like a screen protector and USB OTG adapter included in the box. One complaint is that Sony dont include a "Quick Charge" charger as standard, I have purchased one for the car and its brilliant. Otherwise a superb phone and the next Compact Z series definitely top of the list for my next phone.

Have used for about 6 months
The major flaw is the headphone jack shorted -- for me i never use it so i don't really care but when i resell my phone it won't be too good. The battery life is not as good as its made out to be. I can get through a day easily but I hardly use my phone except for 2 hours of screen time for web surfing. Heavy duty users will need to keep the charger nearby.
Pros
1) size
2) powerful
3) camera is good quality but slow
4) water-resistance
5) lollipop update made battery worse, it was better on ics
6) can charge by using magnetic cradle
Cons
1) Faulty headphone jack -- common problem i guess
2) camera is slow ( but pics are good most of the time)
3) usb port is covered which is annoying to have to remove the cover just to access it.
4) NANO SIM == i don't know why android manufacturers decide to follow apple in everything. There is no reason to use it, the microsim was small enough I don't know why they thought this was a good idea. I dislike apple and I'm not sure why good manufacturers feel the need to follow a company who is not really leading the race anymore.

After 11 months WiFI/Bluetooth has stopped... moreThat's exactly what happened with my phone, both screen cracked just after 4 months!! I had iPhone 5 before, and even after a hundred of accidents it had only few scratches!!!
I'm very disappointed with Xperia Z3 compact!!

Generally I found this phone to be alright. The phone proved to be water proof when used within IP65 and IP68 specification (fresh water) and although it seems to be far from a 2 day battery during medium everyday use it was still enough to get me through a 9-5 working day. May have just been a problem of my unit but within 6 months of purchasing my phone I had to send mine back to Sony for a warranty claim due to an unacceptable number of hardware issues for example; faulty headphone jack, faulty top speaker and a screen issue that made it as if the screen was lifting when pressure was applied.
I would purchase this phone again if not for the faulty hardware.

I bought this phone z3 compact in July, battery life was good but not extraordinary as advertised. With the update released just last week battery life is amazing. Earlier it use to lose battery in standby buy not now. I used it light 1 hr of screen on time, couple of short calls and after 24 hours it lost only 18%. I can say after update it's living upto its name

seems like stouts working hard to defame sony high quality products. cheap phones now a days are doing well. and i am sure sony quality is much better than cheap china androids

Please do not submerge device in water or even try to splash water on it.
While I have seen people do this with the device fully functional under water or in the shower, the devices have shown signs of defectiveness after being in contact with water. It seems as if this has become a "standard" only to prevent phones from getting damaged while being used in the rain or getting wet.
To be safe, treat this phone as if water will blow it up.

I am an xperia die hard and this latest brand has killed it.

3. Great colours with graphics that are not full HD

I own one, for about 8 months now, it has unresolved headphone or mini jack issue/problem. It just stopped recognising any headsets, of all brands/kinds/types... Oh, and this is not an opinion. ITS A FACT!!! and I'm not the only one with the problem.

DO NOT PURCHASE
After 11 months WiFI/Bluetooth has stopped working - Looks like a mainboard replacement.
Lots of users reporting cracked screens (front and back) for no apparent reason. The waterproofing is just a gimmick - just more expensive to replace and fragile.
Cat S50 or Aspera R6 - while not perfect - cheaper.
