On ordinal cell phone, proximity sensor is used to turn off the screen when user brings phone to closer to ear (or detecting flip cover closed). This tablet is obviously designed not to be used as handy phone (ordinal smart phone). However you can use it as hand-free phone (sound comes from loud speaker). You need to use bluetooth handset or wired earphone if you want to have privacy.

It doesn't have a proximity sensor. Is it a problem when using the phone or not?

Mixed emotions. In a few words. The modified Sony sw makes a bit laggy this tablet. I was more staisfied with my Nexus 7-2. The design is ok tho. I´ll never buy Sony again.

got this on 29th august and i love it, great for everything i want to do, watch football and wrestling and watch tv, play games on apps,
i would recommend this to friends and family, if you like your screen sizes not too big but not too small and like your tablets really thin then this is the tablet for you

Mori Mike, 22 Aug 2015I'm planning to buy this Tablet based on the (good) review/... moreI got this tablet mostly for PS4 compatibility, but if you don't have a PS4 you can play games like GTA San Andreas but not PS4 games with just the tablet and controller. You might be better of saving 60-100 pounds and getting a tab s 8.4 (much better screen, fingerprint scanner etc.)

So everything about this tablet is great...except the battery
Yes, it is built for battery, but after 5 months of usage, its not thatbgood anymore
Why? Because of GOOGLE UPDATES
I ADVISE YOU ALL THAT IF YOU DONT LIKE BAD BATTERY LIFE DONT USE 5.1.1
YES, YOU WILL GET NEW FEATURES, BUT IT IS NOT WORTH IT
There, finally let it out. Battery life was best on 5.0.2
5.0.2 vs 5.1.1
Standby: 1%=4 hours vs 1% =1 hour
SOT: 11 hours vs 6 hours
SeeGOOGLE? THATS WHAT BYOUVE DONE

Oh dear, it's so obvious the Samsung trolls on here are so jealous, who really would want a pathetic looking Samsung tablet when you can have the most premium and the best Sony tablet. Z3TC is the best.

Dearest friends.Regardless of camera,S3 tablet compact is one of the best high-end tablet among all Sony products in design,features,and performance!!Bringing down the price for the third world countries will triple its sales for sure!!!I am not sure but I think,Sony never reads and cares about the people's opinions HERE!!!?Sony,s answer shows its respect to its followers and supporters!!!Thanks GSM to release the facts,Sony,s listening!!A day comes that Sony has to bring its prices down,but it never does like some other famous brands that with the newcomer devices,bring down their prices in one half(taking enough benefits!)!!!But Sony increases!!Why!!!?If Sony doesn't answer,I ask dearest friends to answer!Thanks those whom answer!!

I'm planning to buy this Tablet based on the (good) review/s I've been reading/watching.
One of the feature of this tablet is that you can play PS4 remotely.
Now, I don't have a PS4 (not planning to buy one yet). I am just wondering if I can play games using the controller and the tablet only?

It is best tablet with mobile data connection if your live in Canada:
Pros:
- It is full compatible with Rogers/fido LTE network.
- Price is very affordable at 359 cad$, no contract.
- Water resistance.
- You can make phone calls.
- SD card to extend storage.
- Excellent battery life.
- It is light and compact, it just fit in my pants pocket.
Cons:
- Charging with original cable is pain, you have to remove the clip each time.
A magnetic usb charging cable or a charging dock is a must, which is about 5 to 10$.
