AnonD-183232, 15 Sep 2013As per the given specifications of z1 in display is5.0 inch... moreThey both have x-reality. As for ppi, the Z ultra has a much bigger screen, that’s why ppi is lower despite the same FHD resolution.

So bad camera, worst to carry due to big size, faulty flip cover provided by Sony. Too little sound.instead of this you may take Sony l and one tablet both will cost less than zu. No stylus, overall not userfriendly. My advise don'. Go for zu

I had been using the Samsung galaxy series since the last 3 years (Galaxy S, Note1 and Note II), and the user experience had been quite good, so was quite apprehensive of shifting to a different brand. However, I guess that I had got bored with the same Samsung design and so I decided to take the plunge. The shopkeeper discouraged me from buying the phone saying that he had used it and had found it to be unwieldy and that he stopped using it within 3 days and shifted back to his iphone 5 (but then his usage needs are very different, he could not stick with the note 2 either which I found to be a wonderful phone). I bought the phone and my first impression was that it is much better looking (at least I thought so) than the Samsung design (or maybe because I was bored by the same design it was the different design that got me excited. On starting the screen (which is the supposed to be the biggest plus point of the phone), I was certainly not overhelmed. I guess that the I had got used to the Amoled/Super Amoled units of Samsung and found the details lacking (maybe I am unable to express myself but I would definitely say that the screen of Note II was much better than the xperia). Xperia has a yellow tinge to it and the colours are not so vivid. On increasing the brightness, it hurts the eyes, but does not increase the vividness. On screen quality I would once again gives a big thumbs up to the amoled screens (Update: on using the phone since the last one week, I am beginning to like my xperia screen as well but the quality difference is there (I feel))
The next thing that I miss is the stylus based functions of the note. You can use a pencil on the zu. I tried. It works (wonderfully in fact), but I did not have the courage to use the pencil/pen on my screen lest it may scratch the screen. I am still trying to find out whether a pencil/pen will damage my screen (my Nintendo ds stylus did not work on it). The two window feature that the Samsung note offered is also being missed.
The worst experience came when on the 2nd day of purchase itself I experienced software issues that I had read about but thought would not effect me. The screen would not wake up. It did wake up after I don't know after how many presses of the power button on removal of the sim card, but on inserting the sim again the phone restarted and then did not beyond the sony logo and then a blank screen. After a little research simultaneous press of the power button and the up Volume button for about 3-5 seconds switched off the phone but on restart the same problem occurred. No amount of trying would get it to start. On taking the phone to the SOny software centre, I was told that it is a software problem and that it would be repaired (I was told that the problem might have occurred as I had done a OTA update of a new built that had flashed on my phone). Anyways the phone was returned the next day fully functioning and in the last 5-6 days there have been no further problems (of phone not waking up from sleep or in restarting (it took a lot of courage to shut down and restart the phone). I think it should function fine but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Camera: I have not seen a worse camera in my life. It is a 8 megapixel camera but the noise in the pictures is unbelievable. I hardly used the flash on my note, so it is definitely not a flash problem. I do not use my phone for taking pictures extensively so I am not too bothered by the camera quality, but those who do, pls watch out.
Speaker: The speaker sound is quite feeble and it is only in a quite room that you will be able to hear your your tube videos. My younger (4yr old kid) listens to his nursery rhymes and he seemed disappointed on the sound as he turned to his mummy's phone.
The phone is quite snappy and I never felt any lag. The sound quality on calls were decent though, since I wear glasses, it is a little difficult to hold the phone to the ear without dislodging the glasses or sometimes when you adjust it the proximity sensor goes off contact and the screen comes on with some presses being recorded on the live screen.
The web browsing experience was wonderful. All pages render wonderfully well on the big screen (Both landscape as well as portrait). The hd resolution, I guess enables even portrait view rendering very well and the entire page is well readable.
I intend to buy the sbh52 when it releases. I think that the problem of calls will be solved with this accessory.
                  Overall experience:
I am loving my phone and do not regret shifting from note 2 (unless the restart problem starts coming up again). It is definitely a eye-catcher phone and will the object of discussion among friends (Samsung phones have ceased to be attractive as each family has at least one).
Bottom-line: If camera and sound quality are not the prime requirements, I would definitely recommend the phone....

Maybe you bought an old sd card which is slower
Or maybe you dont optimized your battery with stamina mode. Or you dont update your phone.
I had a old 16gb microsd card, it really slow in transfer files but never drained my battery fast.

If photo quality is important to you, the Z1 is probably the one you should check out. It would have been nice if Sony could have just combined these two into one device: A phablet with the Z1's camera and made our choice easier. As it is, you basically have to decide what's your priority, A big screen or a better camera.

I had one, honestly it goes down to what you prefer. I you want a camera phone, but a z1. I have the z ultra it's actually a so so camera. Night photos was fantastic thanks to the exmor rs it looks pixelated at first but when you try to take a shot it enhances the image automatically. I must say it really give the image a good lighting effect. Yeah it's not the best camera, it's somewhat pixelated but decent. Movie was a 10/10 it improves the video quality you can actually see that the color improves. Even just looking at the images in teh screen it's like amoled but not hurting to the eys. and IT'S NOT THAT BIG, I can still put it in my pocket.
