The LED flash on these smartphones serve only as a torch light, mainly. Using LED Flash get worse pics than without it, cause they are too far behing REAL FLASHES, like the ones in DSLRs. Get it?
The only thing that can really improve low light pictures is HDR MODE.
Try it yourselves with your LED flash and then with HDR MODE with your current devices and you'll see.
So, the absense of a LED flash in this XZU is not that bad, get a mini torch light to attatch to your keys holder and there you have the ONLY THING the XZU is lacking.
Realize this guys. This device has no major drawback!

I just bought a Sony Xperia Z Ultra earlier for 26,000 Php (approx. $595 USD). This thing is friggin' huge! It's almost the as big as the Galaxy Tab. Viewing angles are better than the Z's and are above-average for a Sony, but at extreme angles it's still no IPS or AMOLED. Either way, I'm very happy for the price I paid for it! It's only slightly more expensive than the Galaxy Note II here and the Z Ultra is superior in every way.

I really don't get what's up with Sony. Last year with the Snapdragon S4 Pro, their flagship was at least .1 GHz slower than the other flagships. And now with Snapdragon 800, they're again .1 GHz slower than what S800 offers.

Is there anyone here xperia z ultra owner who is experiencing the same as I do? My unit got sometimes totally blackout but it is on and I have to click the power button several times to make it back to normal display. Is it defective lcd or just a bug in the software of the phone? Please help me!... I'm althea from philippines.

But 13mp top of the line cam and a $0.10 led flash you dont get? whats the point of filling a phone with high end best of the best and then put a inferior cam and omitting the flash, i dont get it. Even TV they will put, but basic essentials are not covered.

Ummi, 16 Aug 2013Lol no flash light :) now wat should do in the dark ??You will not take pics in the dark, you will be good boy and go inside before it gets dark, never go out to party, never go in dark places. Who want to take photos together with friends and pretty girls at party anyway? No, you will go out in daytime and take photos of houses and flowers and then enjoy the level of detail, then you will say "ohh so beautiful, who needs girls party pictures when you can do super 6ay things like this?!?!?
On a more serious comment, did someone really write that one dont need flash with Sony sensors because they are so great in the dark? Oh the level of ignorance... Having used Exmor RS 13mp sensor, the best so far, on both Galaxy S4 and Xperia Z, i can tell you that you do need a flash, you really need a flash. They do surprisingly well in normal indoor lighting (better without flash than with) compared to Exmor R, but start dimming the light and noise eats the picture at unacceptable levels long before its dark. Flash on, problem solved.

Guys this phone has the best display and even htc one looks superior next to it.
although it has saturated colors like OLED,s but unlike oleds,the display is very bright.also the colors quality will not lower after sometime(OLEDs issue)

Good news. Here in Brazil the Sony Ultra will be released in October and with a difference: with Digital TV, as well as in Japan Good job Sony, awaiting release.
