First of all this is an awesome smartphone! It works buttery smooth! I'm in love with its design. Its camera works very well at outdoor but it get sucks in low light condition. Everything in this phone is doing its own job perfectly! But I hope it's a bigger capacity of battery. I got my battery's juice finished at 6pm everyday. It's quite disappointed for me.
Overall it's a great smartphone outside now! You will not regret after buying this awesome phone!

I bough it When it was launch. So far I don't have any problem wit my phone. At 1st I was to buy Xperia Z. But when I compare the spec I decide to buy this phone.this phone functioning well till today. But what I can say is this model phone are not famous as its sibling model Z. The price also reasonable. As a former Sony service staff, so far this model is have better quality when compare wit similar specification model phone.

      Anonymous, 01 Dec 201330.000k would be 30000000, Shekhar.s said 30k = 30000 and ... moreYea.
For my case, I choose Sony as my second phone. Reason being I was a Samsung user for the past 2 years, and Apple's iphone didn't fancy me at all.
When I know that it's time that I buy a new phone, I did a thorough research on the current phones that are available and is within my budget since I'm getting the Xperia ZL off contract which can cost up to S$800 Singapore dollars in the Sony Store.
I gave myself a few brands to choose from, LG/Sony/Huawei.
After a thorough research by looking at youtube reviews, written reviews, I've come to a conclusion on buying a Sony phone.
Finally, I've decided to choose the Xperia ZL over the Xperia Z and Xperia SP.

      Reason being:
      - Sony's phone has a very nice look and feel
      - Sony Xperia ZL being the most compact 5 inch screen that is available on the market
      - The dust and waterproof feature isn't something that I will find it useful

Specs wise, I'm actually looking for a quad core phone with its processor clocked at 1.5 GH and a 320 GPU. RAM wise, 2 GB would be sufficient for current phone market. Battery wise, nothing much to say since it does not have a removable battery, which is a pretty common sight for high end phones nowadays. These specs are pretty common and there are a handful of phones with such specs. Things like expandable storage was definitely a bonus since the ZL is one of Sony's 2013 flagship.

And I have to say, the research I did paid off. I got the phone which can cater to my daily needs and wants. Technology is changing everyday, and it's almost impossible for us users to own a so called perfect phone. And it's pretty stupid I would say, to buy a new phone from carriers whenever a new model is released by the mobile carriers, it's like becoming a phone/technology slave. So I would give myself a 2 year time span in between before I decide to change any phone, and I believe its the most wise move for myself.

      Cheers.

and maybe already has a car.

but as stated, yes the perfect phone doesn't exist, but to answer your question, in a personal experience, what i look for is:

physical size: phone must be small, if i was to walk around with a thing the size of a book and more heavy i'd rather take my old trusty netbook, or get a slim gaming laptop/notebook

expansible storage: i use a 64GB microSD card on mine right now and is almost full, too much video projects, and sample music in flac format, i do have a portable HDD, but with the phone i can actually access files on the go; this takes me to...

USB OTG, it is a must here, since that way i can transfer files to other usb devices without a PC, connect other devices like gamepads and such to the phone, etc.

right now, i also need a decent camera, cameras are tricky, is not just about the amount of megapixel(s) they have, you must consider the lens, the processing software, the shutter speed, the sensor type, etc. in general sony phones do have a good hardware, but the camera app is usually not so good to everyone out there i recomend the lenovo super camera app.

just with those, is clear you will be looking for good processor and amount of ram, since 2GB is the highest right now, get that, as per processor any quad core would do the job, later on once OS are enhanced to use 64-bit, then it will be a good idea to upgrade.

And Wow. You must be rich, budget of 30,000k. Well, don't get a 'prefect' phone. There's no 'prefect' phone in the current market. Go buy a car then (:

                            - L.

Pd: The ZL compactness is really valuable! Compare it to the Z1, the Z1 is so bigger! It has rather unnecessarily big bezels :/
But, even with this compactness, when I put it in my pants -front- pocket and I sit down, it's not the most comfortable experience, not too bad though. So, a bigger one will be worse. Just keep it in mind.

Bravia Engine 2 vs Triluminos is practically a tie! *Assessed with my UHQ eyes! :P

The black one looks and feels better and more elegant than the white one. The black one has very nice glossy sides! The white doesn't! The black frame of the screen makes it look bigger too!

The calling reception and quality of audio output of the earpiece is very good!!!!!!! The sound quality of the loudspeaker is very good! What is not so impressive is the headphones sound quality, it's rather quiet, you'll need another headphones if you want a powerful sound.

Go for the ZL I would say, since ZL has already been confirmed to get Android 4.4 Kitkat in the near future. As for Mega 6.3 and LG G Pro, nothing has been mentioned by Samsung and LG for Android 4.4 in the future.
ZL is a good phone! Good luck!
