Sharp bezels - YES, its mechanical design failure from SONY. See just above SONY Logo in front, there is cut for earpiece with speaker grill under it. This cut itself is sharp, not much harm but worst thing is bezel wall just opposite this cut...you can try move/slide your finger tip from left to right with mild pressure on the top end of phone (half finger tip resting on display glass & half hanging out)...see if your finger bleed....(may be not actually, but you will know what i mean). Its sort of Knife edge bezel towards display & exposed to user....all periphery of Bezel is projected out by some micrometer though, but enough to hurt your ear flap & skin over jaw bone during longer phone calls....gosh....!! Wish SONY could feel such detailings....i am forced to use the Silicon jacket/case, now all edges are soft at least.

Anonymous, 28 Sep 2013Guys i am planning to buy a phone in this range in india...... more Only 4gb internal memory is usable out of 16 for ZR. Cannot move applications to sd card. Bad viewing angles. Heating issues.The usb and headphones flaps are flimsy and may get damaged after prolonged usage.VGA front camera. You will get xperia ZL if you add 50 dollars but compromises water and dust proof features. No heating issues for ZL. Go for Sony if you like the design , forget the bad viewing angles and other issues.

Better go for ZL.
Cons of ZR
Internal memory is only 8gb, Heating issues, Flimsy usb and headset flaps wnich gets damaged on prolong usage.Bad viewing angles

Coming back from HTC Desire to SONY again.
2 months user experience:
SD card slot, removable battery, waterproof....thumbs up for SONY!!
Screen Clarity & response - Awesome...
Handling, physical profile, weight for such screen size - 4 Stars
Just VGA front camera with 13MP main - eeeeeshhh!!!
Turn to Mute, Pocket mode or any such user friendly features Missing - shame!!
Wifi signal - suckssssss....!! even sitting within 5 feet from router, the signal dances from 1 to 3 bars & drops to ZERO at its own..., then No Network, then Authentication Problem - SHAME ON SONY, this issue is being reported at many forums for/by all Z phones/users, SONY not addressing it...very very disappointing. Never expected SONY will approve to sell Smartphones with such problem.
Earphone sound clarity for incoming calls - noticeably bad!! Some continuous humming is there. Need press the phone hard against ear to listen, overall volume level is low. The Sharp edge bezel just above earphone hurts the ear badly.
Loudspeaker Sound Quality for Songs/movies - So..So..
If ignore Wifi problem, can rate 7/10, with Wifi problem & by heavy user of wifi - best rating that can be granted is 5/10.
Will switch to other brand as soon as my pocket allows next time. Come on SONY....retain customers!

I have the ZR but am considering selling it for a Galaxy S3 or 4 because of the poor camera on the ZR especially at night. The ZR has a great camera but the software overprocessing ruins it.

Guys I bought the fone. was great but after a month about purchase the bluetooth problem showed up. Updated to 4.2.2 and also tried software repair nothing worked
So I m thinking of getting it replaced. so in how many days do they replace the cell? As sony center is far from my home I have to preplan things. guys who have replaced do they replace the same day?? :/

Does it have the heating issue on normal calls/browsing etc? From the comments, I get the feeling that it heats up only on running heavy applications like games.

It was a great phone when I bought this it was automatically updated from 4.1.1 to 4.2.2. I'm heavy user if I compare it to my first android phone Samsung s2plus this phone is much better I dont have any experience that phone wiill automatically shutdown, stop the service or hang up while your browsing or playing games'. Thats why im very satisfied with this phone all is perfect. Sony is the best. Even before im a regular customer of Sony Ericsson.
