Actually 8gb internal memory is also good. Because this phone has 32GB SD Card Support. Well u can rationalise use of it.
SD Card 32GB- Videos, Music, Images, Data of Large Apps.
Internal - Only for APK Files which are always less than 50MB. ZR has user memory available nearly 5 GB. Take away 1 GB for extra apps u want to download. 1 GB for extra apps is more than enough as most of the apps like whatsapp, facebook, music player, all format 4 screen hd video player, office, come preloaded in it.
Rest left is 4GB which can be used for games. If u want to install games like GTA install apk on internal memory and data on sd card. The apk file of any high end game merely eats up 50MB to 100MB and SD Data is actually more like 1GB. Dont install Data on internal memory otherwise u will run out of space.
So, 8 GB Internal Memory is very good. In fact, it is least a phone should have.

The ZR is 4x more powerful and more beautiful than S2 but Sony just KILLED it with the lowly 8GB and VGA front camera, Sony, why? u never listen to users. Not all needs a Full HD 5" screen.

Overall the beast of all smartphones but the only factor which I think 8GB should have been 16GB?
The small 8GB internal factor is one of the reason is a real pain to think.

Xperia ZR is a clear winner and is better than nexus 4.
Performance of ZR is near to that of S4, with benchmark of 21800. S4 has a benchmark of 23500 and Z has 18000 and Htc one has 22000. Nexus 4 has 18000. It has quadcore 1.5 Ghz S4 pro with 2 GB RAM. ZR is a very powerful device. It can run even very high end games very smoothly.
Display in ZR is better than other company TFTs bcoz of bravia engine 2 and Reality Display.
Touch in ZR has a premium feel bcoz of Opticontrast Panel and Zero gap screen.
Water proof IP58 certified for HD underwater photography.
ZR has internal memory of 8 GB. Enough to install as many apps u like, but not enough for more than two high end games. That is Ok.
It is the best phone under Rs.30000 or 500$.

Sony should release an upgrade to ZR with following improvements, and sell it on a reasonable price.
1. Internal memory=16/32 GB, expandable up to 64 GB.
2. Front Camera=2MP
3. Flapless headphone jack like the ZU.
