While you can't show it off as much as the Z, you get a better battery life, and it much easier to hold. The 5 inch Xperia Z with the square and sharp edges is just not good to hold. And while full HD might look better on a specs sheet (or under a microscope), there is no noticeable increase in sharpness compared to ZR. Besides, I have dropped the ZR several times with no issue. I can't say the same about Z.

monu, 16 Aug 2014Friend please tell me which is the best in ZR or xperia z p... moreI bought a ZR recently and I have been quite satisfied with it. If you buy a Z, you'll have a better looking phone (the glass front and back gives a very nice look), a better front camera and better after market firmware and more internal storage.
But on the other hand, ZR has a better battery life with removable battery (thanks to smaller screen size), better water resistance, it is easier to hold and operate and has a better (though still not great) external speaker.
I have used Z at a store for long enough to say that the size of 5 inches coupled with the sharp edges of the phone makes it uncomfortable to hold. Z is simply a better show off phone. Besides, having to wipe fingerprints from the front is bad enough. Having to do it on both sides for the Z is tiring. As for display, don't think the absence of a full HD is an sort of downgrade. Picture is just as sharp. Apple iPhones have a smaller ppi and you don't see them complaining about picture quality. Anything about 300 ppi, and you will not notice pixels on your display under normal usage. Besides, you get a better battery life due to it.

Zr is the same as z they only made the screen smaller and cut the memory in to half that's it

If u want video only can through app like skype to do the job , of course u will need data for that.
If u want 3g video call on Android OS, only Samsung have that feature ~

looks like its a common problem with recent productions that the bluetooth doesnot work or at least not from the begining and then its consistant, tried the sony forums for this problem but no help at all and then to add insult to injury the latest update (4.4.2) drains the battery among other stuff
which made me really sad cuz i had such high hopes for sony

D, 15 Aug 2014Ohhh. Okay! I'm still going for ZR!Ohkk but update your phone to 4.3(.101) and leave it. Many users experience problems in 4.4.2 so it's safer to be on 4.3 itself.. Also 4.1 has overheating problems..
4.2 and 4.3 are good

Mr. Anonymous! I've been thinking, almost a few days left before I can buy my phone but If you compare ZR to Z1compact. Is Z1Compact worthit or ZR is still better? I know in specs Z1Compact is much superior than ZR but you can't judge a phone buy it's specs unless you compare it personally right?
