I downgraded my phone to 4.2, rooted using vroot and installed a prerooted taiwan's kitkat

ZR is far better than SP, to me SP is no where close to ZR. The best top notch device with 2GB RAM, 13MP bigger sensor than SP and much more adv

You can unroot it anytime.
Also you can update your phone using pc companion.
But upgrading android using update centre or pc companion will unroot the phone automatically.

You can change the looks by putting custom launchers.
If you want to change the entire looks, flash cyanogen mod or custom roms
