SElover2112, 11 Dec 2008guys i'm in a bit of a pickle which one do you think is the... morewell the X1 has a lot of very pretty eye candy with it's touch panels. But underneath all that is the Windows Mobile OS which is also used in all the other touchscreen phones like the Samsung Omnia and the HTC Touch phones. You must realize that WinMo was never designed for touchscreen interface, unlike the iPhone's OS. The Android is exactly that - designed for touchscreen is why it runs smoothly.
So take your pick...personally I would go for the G1 but not just yet. I would wait until it is fully developed and a lot of apps have been made for it. If you can't wait then go for the X1...whatever rocks your boat

nick, 10 Dec 2008what do you all think of android, honestly? is it really... moreI think the Android OS has a very great potential because, just like the iPhone OS developed by Apple, the Android was specifically engineered for the touchscreen interface and unlike the iPhone, it's an open source system so it will surely evolve as the years go by. I think it's the most exciting thing to come out since the iPhone...

Anonymous, 03 Dec 2008Did you read about the constent net usage, even with data r... moreNo. It's due to it's always available internet. It has a Google search on the standby screen for use whenever. This is, pretty much, purely and internet access phone. A beautiful on at that! Who knows though. Apple are doing it with the iPhone, with them being able to monitor installed software(s), maybe T-Mobile are. Either way it still looks amazing and is a decent rival to iPhone.

mr.cool, 04 Dec 2008Did you guys read the news the next iphone is going to run ... moreHow can the next iphone run on android os when iphone is made by apple and obviously would be locked with the mac os? It's like saying that Apple would sell their company to another because they are bankrupt.

                To Danny

it depends on the email type. You cannot receive a blackberry account on anything but a BB and you cannot receive outlook email on a G1

does anyone know if its possible to run android on a neonode n2 phone? bcos u actually install the OS on a memory card and put that in the phone. the phone itself does not hv an OS built into it. i think it wud work gr8 with the optical touchscreen. (i tried a neonode phone but did not buy it cos its OS is complicated and i presume slowed down bcos it runs a modified version of windows CE. it was even more responsive than iphone's touchscreen! at least for the units i tested. but sometimes loading stuff was slower)

Just got the G1 white yesterday. The outlook is beautiful! But as someone earlier had said, the quality feels a little cheap and might fall apart very easily. And since I have used the iphone before, in my opinion, the screen is not as responsive as the iphone, but it's fine to use. All the other things are great. Great online speed and fast searches. Still playing with the new features, very satisfied. Would recommend. ^^

IMPORTING CONTACTS FROM SIM CARD TO G1:

There should be contacts on your si card first.
Click on the contacts and hit the menu button. Click on settings, there you will see the sim contact importer. Click on it and it will sync the contacts from your sim card to your phone. very simple eh! NEVER say it CANT be done if you DON'T know how to get it done :)

I am in a position to replace my current phone, is this a bad time to change my handset, is it worth me waiting until the new year, do manufacturers release new handsets in the the new year?

I'd hate to buy the G1 to find its replaced in January with something amazing!

                                What to do?

soo, 06 Dec 2008just tried this phone today~ very surprised with its touchs... moreG1 is the first phone made by HTC that uses a touchscreen technology called capacitive, which creates electric field from corner to corner. Once a finger hovers just enough barely touching the screen, that is enough to draw current from the electric field and causing drop in voltage. The end result is that it is much easier to touch an icon and get a response without REALLY putting pressure on the screen like other HTC model. iPhone and HTC gPhone are the two phones that I know of that use this technolgy. BTW, by definition of capacitive touchscreen, the screen is made of glass, since plastic does stabilize electric field as well as glass can.

just tried this phone today~ very surprised with its touchscreen~ lol~ this is another best touchscreen phone after iphone.. thought HTC cant produce a nice touchscreen phone like iphone but this G1 have proved that HTC can make it~ haha~ but why i cant felt the other HTC WinMo phone as smooth as this G1? thinking is it actually not the hardware problem but the OS problem?
Hopefully that Andriod able to install in other HTC phone to prove what i am thinking~ haha~ cheers~
