My Friend has this phone, let tell you that it does not feel cheap at all, it feels expensive. Solid! I have an iPhone but I do love the feeling of this phone. Everything about this phone is nice, I would have taken this if I knew it would be this nice. But I bought the iPhone 3G 16G way before this came out.

Disadvantage? No Ear Hole. That is bad! But other than that, a beautiful phone.

iPhone still beats this though, no hate.

    Well the design is a bit bulky and sturdy. but the os is mind blowing.i think it is high time htc uses this software in their phones as it would change the way ppl review htc or any other windows mobile phone. the operating software in G1 is user friendly and the touch interface is as good or shld i say equal to the iphone.

    If HTC you r reading this please shld have used andriod os in Touch HD

                  I've had mine for about a month now and I still marvel at its abilities. It takes a little getting used to at first because it is a whole planet away from most mobiles. The thing which makes this a great piece of kit is the Google suite of services and operating system. When you take delivery of the phone, you only have to put in your google identification and the phone is immediately synched with your computer. All your address book, calendar, and email is on hand. (If you don't have a google account then you have to get one and import all your data from whatever other system you use. That takes about a minute) The keyboard is brilliant and far easier and faster than touchscreen only phones. Maps are instant and that's not even using the GSM. With that turned on you can't get lost anywhere. I can't believe I lived so long without internet in my pocket. I often have had to demonstrate it to mates and it always impresses. Side by side with an i-phone, the G1 is way faster and switches applications with ease. Also data input is much quicker because of the keyboard.

                  Downside. The battery life is terrible at first. Mine is getting better now that it has been charged several times but expect to put the phone on charge every other day. The keyboard lights are a bit dim and if you are old and your eyes are going a bit...well you know the rest. Other than that I am delighted and glad that I waited around for it to arrive. The other phones I auditioned before going for this were HTC touch Pro, i-phone, LG Renoir, Samsung something or other, Sony X1. There was no contest really, this won hands down.

                    @t-mobile guy.

                    Touchscreen sucks??? Have you ever worked with it?

                    Oke battery life is not good, just set it to 2g only and it will last for 2 days, i don't mind charging it every night if i have to. Your asleep... So what is the problem. Touchscreen is the best i ever yussed after iphone's touchscreen. OTA software updates, just marvelous!

                      Got my G1 for 2 weeks. Sure, the battery doesn't last long, but who cares? I bought another battery for 6USD :) If it's low on battery i just charge it with USB at work, charger at home and car charger in the car. One battery holds for 2 days if you don't watch youtube, minimize brightness and turn off GPS.
                      This phone is great! Those who do think iPhone is better - don't have any idea what opensource means :)
                      If battery life means that much to you - buy SE. If you need stylish phone - buy iPhone. If you need a gadget with UNLIMITED possibilities - G1 is for you!

                            Anonymous, 30 Nov 2008is there a way of getting rid of the clock?To get rid of the clock, just hold on to it for a few seconds and then you drag it down to the bottom of the screen where you will see a trash can. Just drop it in there and the clock is gone!
