The later models were more stable, but LG failed to update this ICS as they said they would. So many turned to custom ROMS which are "experimental" and blamed the hardware for the insuing quirks.

LG still has a long way to go to prove itself, and maybe the same amount of time to rid itself of it's "Goldstar" past.

i have the G2X. im ready for a new phone, mainly because i love to upgrade. downside is, im on t-mobile pre-paid so i get no t-mobile help.
as for the way the phone works, it has its share of problems. it freezes, and use to lock up. after the upate came out, it doesnt shut down anymore, just freezes occasionally. in most cases, you will actually move through applications faster than the phone can keep up. i didnt have this problem when i had the Galaxy Vibrant. when doing a lot on the phone, it does get hot. ive just started to have to take the battery out. just depends on whats going on and what im doing for it to freeze. i wouldnt reccomend this phone to anyone that doesnt have patience. mines is wearing thin!

The G2X is the worst phone you can have. It freezes, drop calls, cant hear and when you are trying to exchange it they will give you the hardest time and then will try and down grade you. When purchasing your phone please make sure you do your research because you will be stuck with something that don't work and they will keep trying to send it to you.

Bought this phone last year and it was okay for a while before issues came up. It overheats, randomly shuts down, locks up and requires the battery to be taken out, freeze on applications, and comes with WAY too many pre-installed applications that cannot be uninstalled. The GPS is also a toss up, I could use it close to home but when I actually needed it, I couldn't get a signal. Luckily I had picked up a map at a rest stop to finish the trip. It's fine if you want to text and game all day usually, although battery power drains rapidly. I've also had issues with the camera settings being unable to use flash or change any of the modes. I still haven't figured that out but I'm sure it's because I'm not very phone tech savvy. Last, I have issues with the phone storage; I'm unable to send things to my email because there is no space although I have 1.16GB left. I have yet to figure out how to correct this as well, but I've cleared logs, caches, uninstalled the 5 applications I've installed on the phone (that's right, I've only installed a handful because of issues). This was my first experience with a smartphone/droid and I would say it's not positive. I'll be downgrading and plan on not choosing one again just because of all the bells and whistles.

Have owned this phone since April '11 and have experienced all the growing pains through the update cycle.

                        Pros:
                        - Wonderful build quality. Feels solid and looks good.
                        - Speedy when new and love stock Android.
                        - HDMI port is great for streaming media like Netflix to your tv.
                        - MicroSD slot allows up to 32Gb additional storage.

                        Cons:
                        - Shockingly buggy when new - not well tested by LG or TMo before release IMO.
                        - Current on all updates and have had to wipe the device twice to get it relatively stable. Still suffer from random lockups requiring battery pull. (Please save the uninformed "you don't know how to use a phone comments". Phones shouldn't freeze by simply hanging up a call.)
                        - GPS is hit or miss. Sometimes slow to never on locking a signal - very disappointing if you're lost and need quick directions.

Overall, I love it when it works but, it fails more than it should. Enough so that I would not buy another LG device unless it's been out a while and proven to be stable.

I have had iphone 4s, sgs2, htc various models. Honestly, none of the above were as fast and responsive as LG G2X. This is my first LG cell on android. Solid built, amazing pics and vids, battery life very good. Only issue i am facing that LG PC Suite does not detect it. It is a fantatic mobile!!!
                          Well done LG!!!!!

I got the phone right as it was EOL'd, but that was rather intentional. I wanted a Tegra 2 device because to me they're interesting.

At first I kind of regretted it. Mine came with FroYo and it was an unstable turd. I used it like that until around mid-March when I discovered that an official GB ROM had come out and I just missed it because I got it after the OTA cutoff. So I grabbed the LG updater and upgraded to GB.

It was much improved in most areas, except the camera app, and I liked it for the most part but it was a bit flaky.

In early May I got a notification of another update and this fixed almost every complaint I had about it. There was still some issues with the audio, but the random reboots/lockups have disappeared completely. Not a single one in the 2 weeks after that.

And then this morning I found out that LG released YET ANOTHER non-OTA update that fixes sound issues. i've only used my phone for about 10 minutes of talk time since the update, but it fixed it in that time. Check this out:

So yeah if I had owned this phone for a year, I'd be pretty ticked as it seems to have been something of a lot of wasted potential up until recently. As it stands with my experience, it's been phenomenal. I upgraded from an Optimus T and this is my first high-end Android device. I'll never go low-end again, I know that much.

Benchmark apps (AnTuTu for example) see less memory on pretty much every phone than what's built in. On all the Samsung Galaxy S devices, you see around 310MB of memory, so the extra 56-64MB free on this would be a big step up. It's not a deficiency of this specific phone, it's just how it works.

people who are complaining about this phone don't know how to use a phone. this is one of the best phone i have used. and i love it more than my galaxy sii. if you really want to see the power of this phone. head over to xda-developers.com , and try one of the custom ics rom (4.0.4) and you will be surprised by the speed of the phone. the camera is perfect for me. and the front facing camera is too good for skype and gtalk video calls.
