I'm about to purchase one for use in Australia. If you have been using android for awhile and know your way around the OS you can unlock it yourself. Unlock codes have already been found on Samsung handsets by opening files in a Hex editor and finding the right Hex string. Also there should be any issues using data on any handset aslong as you have the right APN settings. I have a T-Mobile G2 with data working in Australia without any issues with my carriers APN settings.

I have the Sidekick LX, the previous generation to this 4G model, and I can confirm to all that the data services will NOT work in another country besides the USA. My phone can only send and receive calls and texts...that is it. Do not get your hopes up that it will work for you in another country. Outside of USA, its purely a phone to show off with.

$am guru, 22 Mar 2011Way better then before, but camera should be 5 mp or more.mp doesnt affect the picture, look at blackberry's they only have 3.2mp but the picture quality is very good.

It's actually an excellent phone. I own it, and am satisfied highly with the speed and ease of use for the keyboard. It's not as childish with all the flashing lights and sounds either. Great buy and combo with the new Truely Unlimited Rate Plan.

Sidekick will be hitting the likely-to-be-acquired carrier for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and two-year contract with unlimited data -- those that opt for the two-year contract but go with a lower-end data plan will have to pay $149.99 for the Android 2.2 handset..
It would've been better to add a flash

sir3n, 23 Mar 2011Actually, if that was the case, it would be 6G because this... moreactualy is the 9th and it has nothing to do with previous sidekicks. previous SKs run danger os and this one runs android. it's a lame version of the my touch slide
