Tango-infused Lenovo Phab2 Pro is now available alongside 35 AR apps

Right on cue, Lenovo's Phab2 Pro is now available to purchase from its online store in the US. The Chinese company revealed the launch date last week, and it's stayed on schedule. The Phab2 Pro is special because it's the first shipping phone to be Tango-enabled. Tango is Google's augmented reality play for your handheld device.

The Phab2 Pro is priced at $499.99 unlocked, and for now its launch seems to be limited to the US. Google has announced that 35 AR apps are already available in the Play Store, ready to be used on the Phab2 Pro once you get it. Examples of what these let you do, through the power of Tango, include measuring anything in your home, visualizing how furniture and appliances will look in your home, playing AR dominoes, painting and drawing "on" any surface of your home, or playing with virtual pets.

The Tango smartphone has a 6.4-inch QHD touchscreen, a 16 MP main camera, an 8 MP selfie shooter, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, and a 4,050 mAh battery. It's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, which has an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A72 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores along with the Adreno 510 GPU. The Phab2 Pro runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
