Hey guys, is there any significant changes in the new update?? The phone's asking me to update ASAP (until now which I consider it to be a message), so if you guys can tell about the patch and changes, we can discuss on it further...

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2025Tecno Camon 20 5G pro is a complete waste of money, the bat... moreActually, the latest patch before android 14 major upgrade was the best point of time of this phone... The battery life was really good, performance was absolutely stunning (now I've rolled back to Android 13 via official service centre, check my previous comments), I can play MLBB on ultra graphics + ultra frame rate (120fps), which is not possible in current android version of the phone, btw, seems like the android 14 took a toll on battery life, because the battery still drains fast and phone heats up a bit on regular usage, but not as much as the current patch... Anyways, let's wait for a few more months for Tecno to solve these issues, as the another user said that it's getting better (like step-by-step patches)...

And, can you tell what's the patch size? I'd like to know that... Anyways, do you remember the patch notes? It can contain some hints... Btw are there any other changes in the UI or smth?
And thanks a lot for your review, brother... Personal experience matters more than generic expert opinion!

Here's my comments after a few hours. The battery life, sadly, is still the same. A little better than it was these past few updates. After using it for an hour of non-stop watching and social media, I lost 10% and it dropped from 100% - 90%. What I've noticed though is that the standby is a lot better now! In comparison to before, where even if I left it for only 15 minutes in a table, it would drop 2-3% whereas now, it didn't dropped a single percentage which is great!
Also, I've noticed that the performance became a lot better after the update! I play Wuthering Waves for comparison which is a heavy game (I usually play it on PC but I play on my phone when doing dailies and stuff) and using the lowest possible graphics in 60fps, I noticed that it has become better! Not a stuttering mess like it was compared to the previous patches!
I wouldn't say that I'm a reliable source or anything, but this is just based on my own experience. This patch is not better than the Android 13 one, but it's better than any Android 14 patches that was rolled out in my honest opinion.

Tecno Camon 20 5G pro is a complete waste of money, the battery strength is rubbish, even while the phone is on ultra battery saving mode, the battery still drains very fast. To make matters worse the battery doesn't charge fast.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2025You did! Thank you very much! But since my phone isn't... moreI'm glad that I've answered your question, bro... Yeah maybe it's Tecno's tactics to make us upgrade to Camon 30 series... Btw since the Camon 30 Pro 5G variant is not yet launched in India, I'll stick to this phone now, maybe after a year, I'll look for a better one in sub 20k category (Moto or Nothing, no more Chinese brands lol), only if this issue hasn't been solved... And, good luck with buying the Poco X7 Pro, let us know how it performs when you buy it... Anyways, my suggestion is that to wait for a couple of months or a bit more cuz there might be any patch updates that could fix this... I'll too keep an eye on it, and everyone here, if y'all have the phone on latest version and get the patch update (mostly in March 1st week ig), kindly let us know here...!

krishofficial, 19 Feb 2025Yeah bro, I went to the official service centre and asked f... moreYou did! Thank you very much! But since my phone isn't covered in the one year warranty anymore as I bought mine in September of 2023, my only hope was an update that would stabilize everything sadly... which I highly doubt since the reason why they're not trying the make it better, is to urge us to upgrade to the newer variant (just a hunch) but I would rather not. Saving for the Poco X7 Pro currently as it is better overall. Thank you though! I'm glad that you had everything under control!

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2025Did you go from their official service center and had it re... moreYeah bro, I went to the official service centre and asked for downgrade of android 14 to android 13, because of abnormal battery drain (and resetting the phone by ourselves after upgrading to android 14 doesn't downgrade to android 13)... Since it's covered under warranty, they said they'll do it for free of cost and will take around 2 hours, and only if the stock ROM is available online... So they checked for it and it was available, so I gave them the phone, went out and came after 2 hours, they had reset the phone and downgraded to android 13 (the one that came with the phone)... And ig android 14 took a toll on the battery life cuz still the battery is not as efficient as it was while I bought the phone, but now gives around 6 hours of SoT (and 2 days of stand-by) with casual usage, and around 3 hours if used heavily... And android 14 + HiOS 14 update removed many useful features (like phone cooler) and the UI was changed that looked less appealing... I can now update to android 14, but I want to know if the battery issue has been solved... So, if anyone on android 14 on this phone, kindly install the latest patch update and let me know here...
And I hope I answered your question, brother!

Alright guys, I've reset the phone to Android 13 by the authorised service centre, and here's what I observed:
1) The battery life: I guess the battery life has almost restored to normal, cuz after 1 hour of SoT (casual usage), the battery is at 76% from 85% at the morning (it's noon here now). Just 9% of drain (with no battery saving more or smth like reducing refresh rate), so I conclude that the battery drain issue is because of Android 14 update.
2) Heating: I haven't used tho phone heavily till now, so I didn't observe any significant heating, and I believe there won't be any haha.
3) Performance: The performance is as usual, nothing too different but the older UI designs (of HiOS 13) were better imo so...
Finally, if you guys can, just go downgrade to Android 13, else kindly wait for the patch or major update that solves these issues.

GamingB36, 04 Feb 2025Is this still good in 2025 for gaming?(As long as i buy a p... moreOfc bro, if I hadn't updated to Android 14, in my opinion, this is the best performance phone under 20K INR, cuz at Android 13, I was able to play MLBB at high graphics + extreme fr (120fps), Genshin Impact at smooth + 60fps, all without any lags, latency issues, battery drain or frame drops... Now I can't play the games as "blazing" as before... That one update ruined everything...
