You phone doesn't need t... moreWell the difference is with the factory software and OS version, which was really great in terms of everything, like performance, battery, connectivity, camera etc... But after the android 14 update, the battery life and thermal management especially took a hit, which the current users of this phone, like me, still face it... We can only hope to change to a better phone after saving some money... So, yeah the software support is the worst aspect of this phone, other than that, everything else is just fine...

It's logical predecessor Camon 20 Premier also doesn't come close. And it's successor Tecno Camon 40 Premier also seems a downgrade in hardware but with better software support. 30 Premier will get 2 updates to A16, while 40 Pro will have 3 updates to A18.

Super impressed with this phone considering 30 Premier is the upgrade from Camon 20 Premier which is near identical to this Camon 20 Pro.

          Comparing my Camon 20 Pro with next generation Camon 30 Premier, it does not add up. This is not an incremental upgrade. Camon 30 Premier on use seems to be a different phone altogether with build quality reminiscent of their flagship Phantom series.

          Frankly speaking Camon 30 Premier feels like a natural upgrade over my Tecno Phantom X2 Pro with better rear camera module, same flagship exquisite metal build quality, improved overall aesthetic design and much better and brighter AMOLED display now featuring LTPO tech. Actually Camon 30 Premier is the only phone from Tecno lineup to have a LTPO display.

          The only downgrade on Camon 30 Premier compared to my Phantom X2 Pro is the SoC. But with this downgrade, in my eyes, logically 30 Premier still dosn't seem to be a Camon series phone. Its more like a deliberate move from Tecno, who tried to bring the new successor to their flagship Phantom X2 Pro in 2024, and then backtracked due to some internal decisions.

          Maybe after a year in development of Camon 30 Premier the management took decision to cancel Phantom series due to poor sales of X2 Pro (I bought at over 50% discount). So they downgraded the SoC from maybe Mediatek Dimensity 9200 on 2004 to Dimensity 8200 to reduce the price considerably and launch at INR 40K, instead of INR 50K for X2 Pro.

          Moving to software, HiOS 15 over Android 15 is a sea jump over HiOS 14 over Android 14. To an extent they do not resemble the same OS anymore. The jump and improvement is massive and truly impressive. Almost same level of Xiaomi's HyperOS 2. HiOS 15 is not an incremental software upgrade. AI is everywhere. Even exclusive AI capabilities like circle to search is present on Camon 30 Premier.

          The improvements in camera with 3X periscope zoom is really commendable on 30 Premier. 50MP Sony sensors used everywhere. So is the software improvement and that mega 512 GB memory and 12GB RAM.

          In short, to me Camon 30 Premier feels more like an upgrade over my flagship Phantom X2 Pro rather than Camon 20 Premier. With newer Camon 40 Premier, Tecno seems to be back on track with Camon series plastic build, 256GB memory and no LTPO display.

          During Diwali sales Camon 30 Premier in India was available for INR 26K ($290) and for that price it is a no brainer. Camon 30 Premier is undoubtedly the most complete Tecno flagship I have ever come across and also the most complete phone they ever build.

Well, I recently updated to latest Android 14 and security patch (March 2025), I guess the software support for the phone has ended (1 OS upgrade Android 13 to Android 14) and 2 years of security updates (May 2023 to March 2025), probably) so now it's time to look out for a new phone... Maybe y'all can use this phone for some more time (if possible), save some money, and look for more promising Tecno phones (Like the Pova Slim, Pova Curve, Pova 7 series (still, not as powerful in performance as the Camon 20 Pro 5G and Premier 5G in the similar price range), or the Camon 40 series (if available)) cuz they have 2 to 3 OS upgrades and upto 4 years of security updates, with better overall features. Else look out for other brands that are better at ya budget.

              Comes on once in a while, stays on for like 30min or 15min then goes off into bootloop again.

                    i brought my phone since 2 years and i am a gamer and i play gamers more than 6 hours daily and use camera weakly i never disappointed from this but i comes to update it disappointed me and i really thought i purchased a wrong brand where 2 years android update does not support and camon 20 body is boxy but the build quality is not too good i got many scratchs even i never use my phone without cover and when i purchase my phone in begging the camera quality is too good but now is it not look like before i really want android 15 update + camera optimize + batter time + more smoother it make customer happy and never thought our phone is trash

My Tecno Camon 20 Pro is a very good smartphone for its asking price and except for the slight hit it took in terms of battery life after Android 14 update, it is still a good phone and easily lasts for a day on moderate usage with light gaming.
