Tecno Phantom V Fold2 review
Design and build
The new Phantom V Fold2 adopts a new look with the vegan leather finish on the back and a blocky camera island.
The design is a bit polarizing, judging from our comments section. It might be due to the addition of the rather prominent logo of the German high-end consumer electronics brand LOEWE (corrected - not the Spanish luxury fashion brand of the same name as we initially thought).
What we are more interested in, however, is the build quality. Tecno has reduced the weight significantly compared to the previous generation, and the phone is now approximately 250 grams and about 12mm thick when folded.
When folded, the handset feels very nice in hand. Its size and grippy back texture allow you to use the V Fold2 with one hand comfortably.
When unfolded, the V Fold2 is 5.5mm thin and feels like a premium foldable. It's really nice to hold.
We are also surprised by the main display's unobtrusive crease. It will probably grow over time, but it's pretty small out of the box.
Regarding the hinge, we've used smoother ones with flatter resistance curves. This one feels tighter in some sections of the travel and looser in others.
All in all, the V Fold2 may be a budget-friendly device, but build quality is on a nice level.
