Just for those who are curious about this G99 Ultimate: It's a custom version made to prevent overheating, keep stability and performance while in heavy usage, but also to prevent framerate drop while gaming. They use what something called Aurora Engine 2.0

Main camera uses a similar tech that a phone from Realme (which I don't remember the name now) that allows some kind of 3x lossless zoom. Videos can be shoot at 2k@30fps and 1080p@30/60fps, which is okay, but Tecno implemented their version of Ultra Steady Mode, pretty similar to Samsung ultrawide cameras, but obviously it's not the same.

Another nice thing, and that goes for the complainers about Android updates. There's an overview/paid promotion by Tech Chap about this phone and he assured that Tecno will give 2 Android updates for this phone! A big step forward if you care about such updates, because even Motorola isn't caring that much.

      😊

Minu, 05 Jan 2024Second hand flagship prices are awful in third world countr... moreI know the pain, I'm from Brazil. At least the model I choosed was 5 to 6 times cheaper than a brand new phone. Other than that, I would stick with a midrange phone without any problem.

Back to topic, I wish Tecno had a stronger presence in South America as a whole, bu they are mostly available in countries like Peru, Argentina, Bolivia and Colombia. Most phones are great for their market segment and I think Tecno has walked farer in many aspects than Infinix.

But overall specs is good enough to be considered regarding its price range.

Minu, 04 Jan 2024It's great that you can afford a top-of-the-line flags... more"It's great that you can afford a top-of-the-line flagship, but let's not forget that there are only a handful of low ends with a promising user experience, and sometimes they may not be available in certain regions."

The thing is: I CAN'T afford haha I got it second hand for very cheap and that's the only reason I have a top tier phone, even an old one. Anyway, I'm most an Infinix/Tecno user, and still have Zero X Pro and had Note 10 but that one was lost when I was robbed.

"Regardless, the specs on modern low ends are good enough, yet, I'm against any brand crippling their low ends, especially Samsung with their laggy One UI and gobs of bloatware"

Yeah, One UI has tons of bloatwares that makes low and mid tier phones sluggish after 1.5 years and basically forces people to buy a new phone. On the other hand, Infinix and Tecno are basically taking the place left by the golden days of Xiaomi: Low prices with good specs and performance.

Minu, 03 Jan 2024Even worse, Samsung has poor quality control and buggy soft... moreI use an old Galaxy Note 10 as my main phone and it had some support until its last update months ago. I know Samsung takes very good care in that regards with it top tier phones, but yeah... Cheaper phones gets only crumbs. Same goes for Xiaomi. I used to like the brand and MIUI until version 12 and the absurd amount of bugs and dead boot after updating. I had to save data from an old Poco M3 twice because of these dead boots.

Nowadays, I prefer a phone with a stable system, even if without many updates than a bugy and laggy system.

Sir McKxs, 02 Jan 2024No software support this brand Common users don't care for that as long as the phone works. Only tech nerds care (too much) about Android updates, even if they own good phones.

Also, did you know that software and Android updates are kinda expensive for some brands? With very few exceptions, Tecno, Infinix and some brands that does rugged phones like Ulefone and Doogee keeps their prices low because they don't give such updates in most of cases. On the other hand, Samsung gives Android updates for some years, but their phones are a bit pricier, even after removing all acessories from the box.

What's the difference between G99 and G99 Ultimate
