Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ review
Dual camera setup with a high-resolution primary shooter
As mentioned, the Spark 20 Pro+ gives off a powerful camera vibe with its massive circular rear island. It's mostly for show, and in actuality, the Spark 20 Pro+ has a rather modest camera setup that doesn't even include an ultrawide.
On a more positive note, the phone's main camera is a high-resolution 108MP one. It is accompanied by a pretty much inconsequential 2MP macro shooter. The selfie is also pretty high resolution at 32MP. There is nothing particularly fancy about the camera setup, but some highlights include a Quad-LED flash array on the back and a Dual-LED flash on the front. Also, the main camera can capture up to QHD resolution video.
- Wide (main): 108 MP Samsung s5khm6sx, f/1.8, 1/1.67", 0.64µm, PDAF; 1440p@30fps, 1080p@60fps/30fps
- Macro: 2 MP Galaxycore GC02M1 / GC02M3, f/2.4.
- Front camera: 32 MP Galaxycore GC32E1 / Hynix hi3231q, f/2.2, 1/3.1", 0.7µm; 1440p@30fps, 1080p@60fps/30fps
The camera app isn't particularly feature-rich, but all the basics are covered. Everything is well laid out with nice and legible icons, including informative AI mode indicators on the viewfinder itself. You don't get any Pro mode, but there are still some interesting additional modes like Dual Video and AR Space.
Daylight photo quality
Main camera
The main camera on the Spark 20 Pro+ captures stills at around 12MP by default due to pixel binning. These photos generally look quite nice, with plenty of detail, very low noise and little sharpening artifacts. Colors look pretty great, too, perhaps a bit on the saturated side, but nothing excessive.

The dynamic range is decent, but it could also be better. Highlights tend to get clipped at times. Contrast could also use a bit of improvement.
You can also force the main camera to capture in its full 108MP resolution. Naturally, you end up with huge files, but there is a noticeable boost to fine detail with less sharpening applied and more natural and laid-back processing overall. That means a bit more noise and softness are left behind on a pixel-peeping level, so you win some and lose some with 108MP mode.

The Spark 20 Pro+ lacks a dedicated telephoto camera, but the main camera still has plenty of resolution to pull off very decent digital zoom shots. There is a 3x toggle in the camera UI. Overall, 3x shots look very comparable in quality to 1x ones.

Skin tones come out looking very natural and convincing on the Spark 20 Pro+. There isn't a lot of skin texture coming through, though, which is not ideal. Portraits look decent but are far from perfect. Subject detection and separation have plenty of errors, especially with a busier background.

The Spark 20 Pro+ lacks a dedicated ultrawide camera, which greatly harms its versatility. At least there is a dedicated 2MP macro snapper. It captures surprisingly usable closeups, considering the resolution limitations. There is enough detail, and the colors are nice and vibrant.

Selfie camera
The 32MP selfie camera captures in its full resolution and generally does a decent job, but it is nothing to phone home about. Some detail and skin texture are coming through, but most fine detail still gets "painted over". Skin tones aren't particularly natural, either.

Dynamic range could definitely be wider. Even so, the selfies aren't bad overall.
Low-light camera quality
The main camera on the Spark 20 Pro+ does alright in low light but fails to impress. There is enough detail and very low noise. Colors also look good.

However, there is plenty of softness on surfaces, and a lot of fine detail is lost. We can appreciate that Tecno isn't aggressively oversharpening things in an effort to fix things. Highlights are frequently clipped, and light sources are blown out. Dark areas are very muddy and soft.
At least zooming doesn't take away much from the overall quality, which is great to see.

There is a dedicated Super Night mode, which, unlike the regular mode, is very aggressive in its overall processing. It sharpens things up a lot and salvages more fine details. While we wouldn't necessarily say that highlights are handled better, darker areas are definitely much better developed and light sources are less blown out. If you don't mind a slightly overprocessed look, go for Super Night mode.

Low-light selfies are decent, but not much more than that. We like the colors and skin tones, but skin texture and detail could definitely be better.

As expected, enabling the selfie LED flash notably improves skin texture and detail.

Video capture quality
The Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ can capture video up to 1440p@30fps on its main and selfie cameras. Videos get saved in a standard AVC/h.264 video stream with stereo 48 kHz audio inside an MP4 container. There is no option to do HEVC/h.265. You can, however, record in 1080p at up to 60fps instead.
The main camera captures pretty solid QHD videos. Detail is good, considering the resolution. Colors look nice but are definitely on the saturated side of things. Dynamic range and contrast could be better. Highlights, in particular, get frequently clipped.
The selfie camera does decently well in its own right but is a bit lacking in terms of detail and dynamic range. Contrast isn't perfect either, and the footage looks a bit flat.
Video sample playlist
You can check out the playlist below, which includes multiple video samples.
Footage from both cameras is quite shaky by default. There is a Super steady EIS mode you can use. It works on both the main and selfie cameras. It lowers the resolution to 1080p, meaning you are losing some detail, but not that much. It does cut away quite a bit of the frame, though.
Low-light videos from the main camera are pretty solid. The detail is there, and the noise is low. Contrast is good, and so is dynamic range. There is some detail in darker areas, and the highlights aren't too bad. Colors are pretty saturated, but we don't particularly mind the look.
