The advanced ambient sound update for Galaxy Buds2 Pro reaches Europe
On Global Accessibility Day Samsung released an update to the Galaxy Buds2 Pro that enabled Enhanced Ambient Sound, a feature that helps people with mild-to-moderate hearing loss. The update was rolled out in South Korea initially but is now expanding to Europe.
The firmware update is version R510XXU0AWF4. Here’s the changelog:
- A new feature has been added to the Labs menu
- Added “Sharpen call sound,” which is useful in noisy places
- Added “Extra-high ambient volume” for “Hearing enhancements” (when activated, the “Ambient Sound level” changes from step 3 to step 5)
- Stability and reliability (the stability has been improved)
Basically, enabling the Amplify ambient sound feature in the settings now has two extra levels for the Ambient sound volume sliders. There is a slider for each bud, so users can dial things in for their individual needs.
This feature was tested in two clinical trials – one run by the University of Iowa’s Hearing Aid and Aging Research Laboratory, the other by the Samsung Medical Center. The trials showed that the Buds2 Pro can “significantly improved speech perception” for people with hearing issues.
