The first smartphone with Snapdragon 675 spotted on Geekbench

Ro, 06 November 2018

Qualcomm came out with a surprising announcement last month and unveiled yet another mid-range SoC - the Snapdragon 675. It's a close sibling to the Snapdragon 670 and 710, but it's built on the 11nm node (as opposed to 10nm) and features Qualcomm's 4th generation Kryo core design. Today, the first smartphone running that chip surfaced on Geekbench and we have no clue which phone that is. But it still gives a glimpse of what the chipset CPU should be capable of.

According to the score sheet, the new generation CPU cores from Qualcomm make all the difference and the Snapdragon 710 falls short in both tests.

To refresh your memory, the Snapdragon 675 uses the same 2+6 core design, but instead of 2x Cortex-A75 like in the Snapdragon 710 and 670, the 675 adopts ARM's new Cortex-A76 cores. Moreover, the SD675 uses a less powerful Adreno 612 GPU than its siblings although, Qualcomm says it's been optimized for better gaming performance.

Not much else we could gather from the score sheet - only that the device runs Android 9.0 Pie and has 4GB of RAM. We will have to wait a little bit more for some OEM to step out and take responsibility.

I guess without looking at the benchmarks, these mid-end chipsets have in fact surpassed older high-end chipsets in terms of performance overall

sd 710 is fine but still sd820 is better chipset overall due to most powerful adreno 530 card besides the original kryo are more powerful remember we can achieve 5000-10000 less with 4 lesser cores -2 high performance -2 low energy despite using 10n...

710 actually already smashes 820 off (albeit not much, only 5000-10000 difference), according to this result 675 beats 710, so it's logical that 675 will beat 820 by some more margin.
