The Honor 9 will be unveiled on June 20 or 21

Word of a new mid-ranger from Huawei's Honor sub-brand has been floating around the rumor mill for some time now. A new report claims to have some much-needed specifics on the handset, namely an announcement date of June 20 or June 21 and a suggested price tag of INR 2,499 ($362).

To give you some background, the Honor 9 has been the subject of at least a couple of leaked renders. Despite revealing the lack of a 3.5mm audio jack on the model, these have proven controversial since they bear too many similarities with the Honor 8.

This has led to some speculation that Huawei is actually planning to release a Honor 8s refresh instead of or alongside the Honor 9. The confusion then is quite understandable, but regardless of the name, rumors suggest the $362 or so handset will offer a 5.2-inch, FullHD display, Kirin 960 chipset and 32GB or 64GB of UFS 2.0 storage. Likely expandable as well. There was also word of up to 6GB of RAM, but 4GB frankly seems a little bit more feasible at this price point.

A dual 22MP, plus 12MP monochrome camera setup will probably be part of the mix as well. As for the battery pack, insider sources have offered conflicting numbers, but capacity will likely be at least on par with the Honor 8 and its 3,000 mAh.

More information should become available over the next few weeks, leading up to the unveiling.
