The Moto G2 retail box caught in a retailer's warehouse

02 September, 2014

We received a photo of the Motorola Moto G's retail box – no, not the old Moto G, the new one. That's right, it seems that Motorola will not be calling it the G2 (perhaps to avoid confusion with the LG G2).

The box was snapped inside the warehouse of the Indian online retailer Flipkart and there seem to be plenty of boxes in stock. The Indian e-tailer had exclusivity on the original Moto G.

That doesn’t necessarily mean it will have exclusivity on the new model of course, we should get more info on the new Motorola Moto G this Thursday. Note that there's an event in India scheduled for the following date so we should see a confirmation (or rebuttal) on the exclusivity on Friday.

The new Moto G is expected to have a 5" 720p screen, Snapdragon 400 chipset and an 8MP camera. Import price in India suggests the 16GB model will cost INR 13,000 ($215 by today's exchange rates).

For comparison here's what the original Moto G box looks like.

Thanks to Nikunj for sending this in!
