Three out of every four modern iPhones and iPads runs iOS 13
Apple posted its financial results earlier this week with impressive wearables sales during the holiday period. Tim Cook shared an update that over 1.5 billion Apple devices are currently active, and more than 70% of the modern iPhones and iPads run the latest iOS 13 (also called iPadOS for the slates).
Under the term modern fall all smartphones introduced in 2016 or later - that’s all the way back to the iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. There were plenty of phones released in that time, but the tablet scene is a bit different. We’ve seen only ten slates in the past four years, but the update percentage is even higher than the phone department - 79% of all recent iPads currently run the latest OS version.
According to Apple, 70% of all iPhones ever launched are running iOS 13, while a bit over half of the iPads are on iPadOS. This is a massive improvement, since the adoption rate in October, one month after the OS introduction, was just 33%.
