T-Mobile recalls Revvl 7 Pro from all retailers

T-Mobile's line of own-brand Android smartphones added its latest members, the Revvl 7 and Revvl 7 Pro, a few weeks ago. And while the Revvl 7 is still safely on sale at TMo retail outlets and third party partners, the same can't be said for the Revvl 7 Pro.

This device has now been recalled by T-Mobile from all of its stores and retail partners. It's not on sale anymore. This is a rather unprecedented move, especially since the carrier hasn't announced a reason for the recall.

Instead, all we have to go by is the leaked memo you can see above, through which the magenta carrier is informing its partners that they should immediately return all Revvl 7 Pro units they may still have, including demos.

This move is apparently done in order to "maintain our high-quality standards", T-Mobile says without going into any more details. The carrier is "proactively recovering the current units" in its partners' inventory. This doesn't mean the phone has been discontinued, however. TMo says it's "working to make more Revvl 7 Pro inventory available soon to allow sales to resume quickly".

The instructions say to mark the devices as "customer unhappy" in the system, but that's most likely just because the system may not have a more relevant option presented.

While it's unclear why this is happening, a few employees have reported that the Revvl 7 Pro's Phone app is constantly crashing on many units, and that would sure qualify as a reason for such a recall. After all, if you can't make calls, a phone loses one of its most important features.

Whatever the case, T-Mobile should also officially inform those who have already purchased a Revvl 7 Pro about what's going on - and if the flaw it discovered in these units is not fixable via a software update, then it should issue an official recall from customers as well.
