Got mine today, toshiba UI sucks balls. Ditched it and installed HTC TF3D, and an SPB alternative. Phone is fast and responsive. Battery life seems good. GPS reception is amazing, 7 sats in view indoors, my touch diamond couldn't get 1. Orientation transition isn't fast but more like 2s than 4s. Screen looks great. If you can live with the size (i can, and quite like it) i would recomend this phone. One down side is nowhere to put the included stylus, though finger operation is ok, even with large hands.

I have been looking forward to the phone since Feb when it was announced but I also knew it was a dissapointment not disaster waiting to happen as i think Toshiba can fix the problems. The first thing was the battery, only toshiba beleived that was ok was a device with 1 gHZ processor, it was as if the processor would solve all problems. You can hardly know the device has a processor that huge with its reacion time - the accerlerometer takes 4 sec to reorientate, IPHONE 3GSS with 600MHZ takes 1 sec. The 2nd problem is the lack of a 3.5mm jack , the adapter is just rubbish. From all the reviews I have seen so far, its not to encouraging, i pity the people who have bought this device now. I wonder why people rush and purchase devices before even hearing what the review is ????. I am due to get a new phone but i will wait until the right one is out . I want somethng with a large screen & Windows Mobile, so I guess I would wait until WinMo 6.5 is out in Sept, Samsung Omnia II is looking good, so if Toshiba can't fix TG01 by January then I am a Samsung phone user. I have seen WinMo 6.5 demo on Youtube and it looks impressive. Seroiusly Toshiba get your acts together, the hype for this phone was too much compared to what it can deliver.

It was a friend, and we had a good chat. I also gave a technical talk to a couple of his colleagues on how to pitch the device better and divert customers away from the niggles. They appreciated my time with them.
However Orange HQ had asked the store to give detailed feedback on the popularity of the device and how many people enquired and ordered the device. Since Monday of that week only one person had phoned to ask about the TG01. Most consumers ignored it. Nobody had asked for a demo all week.

It's Interesting that the Toshiba TG01 only has two buttons on the front - the home and the back buttons - and they look capacitative at that. The dial and hang-up buttons are implemented within the soft key area which is new in a WM device.

Used this in an orange store comprehensively for 1hour. Borrowed 3GS to compare. Still to try HTC touch pro2.
The TG01 was not as tight an experience as 3GS. but battery life despite 1100mah battery was more robust to use.the interface does not hide WM6.1 well and is rather slow and laggy. You must do gestures slowly. The 3GS was nippier in use and more responsive and the screen was superior for typing. The TG01 required more effort and I was far less accurate. Landscape is perfect on the 3GS for typing messages. Portrait is necessary for the TG01 due to the space bar disappearing into a small button in landscape.
This however is a far superior multimedia device for vid watching. In-app performance is stellar and battery lasts longer than 3GS and the screen is beautiful. However as a business phone the 3GS will be better as an emailer due to a more responsive and accurate keyboard.
Navigation is handled equally well on both devices.
It is also highly pocketable due to its thickness.

In short - 3GS crippled by battery life. TG01 just feels sluggish with its UI (like xperia1), but in-app performance is great and battery stronger than 3GS. Hoping HTC touch pro2 or omniaII will be better...all the devices are sadly flawed.

im sure this wont get much credit, from its battery info, i think it will not give much satisfaction to the end user, there will always be battery problem.

i'm gonna wait for a couple months to see what actual users have to say about it, as far as cameras go my Xperia X1 only has 3.2MP cam but quality is awsome better than some 5MP phones, mega pixels aint all that make a quality picture they just make the size of it! when are people gonna learn, lol

Great looking phone with a terrible UI, in terms of responsiveness. It is slugging and the real 1-3 seconds pauses when thumping on icons makes one think there is a 320mhz chip rather than mighty 1000mhz snapdragon. I though the handset I tried might be a dud, so I tried another - sadly the same. A real shame.

                              Its a speed demon:
                              SNAPDRAGON: 1GHZ = 2100 MIPS
                              Samsung Omnia: 624 MHZ = 800 MIPS
                              Iphone 3GS: 600 MHZ = 1200+ MIPS
                              INTEL ATOM: 1.6 GHZ = 3800+ MIPS

Even though I hate touch screen and windows mobile...I have to admit that 1Ghz is sick. They should have put a 12MP camera with hd video recording and android and that would be the best phone ever.
