I haven't tested speeds on this one but my z9x gets 10mbps on 4g or 3g while this sim gets 100mbps inside a Canadian iPhone. To get notifications, you would need to enable them 1st, enable autostart and allow background activity on apps where you need it. kinda annoying but with the amount of spammy notifications you get, it's kind of a plus

It only runs at 120+hz when switched to 1080p mode which is kinda frustrating. 1260p only goes up to 90hz. I'd rather this phone have a native 1080p screen as I'm forced to run it in non native res. Still, best value for me. I used Z9x to try out Origin and I liked it so got this one. It's fairly similar to other BBK phones. I owned 1+ and Realme, my wife uses Oppo. Finding Color OS to be more annoying than Origin

Ex... moreWhat I was saying is have some expectations, you can't get everything at this price range. A reasonable user should prioritize the chip as it's the important part to ensure the smoothness of the phone. 7sgen2 has been one of the bottom mid-range chip in the price range, genuinely, especially for the price it is selling. You can argue about the camera, 3.5mm hp jack, slot, e-sim, if you need these features you can pick other phone. I've tried MIUI my entire life, from Rm note3 to Poco F5, Xiaomi MIX, I can vouch the UI is not better than the new FuntouchOS, I sold my Poco because the UI is lagging out of nowhere. I'm not even the one who compared it to Note13Pro, someone did, I just stated my opinion that Z9 suits most people. If I'm picking a competitor, it would be Poco X6 Pro, that phone has almost everything these both phones have but better. And again, I'm comparing specs for the announced devices, get a good device for the specs, not the brand. If Samsung A0x and A1x is the most popular Android phone in the world, I'm not kidding when I'm saying people don't expect much from their phone, a good battery, performance, UI and reputable brand, is what most people needed, and choose whatever you want, nobody is stopping you.
For my mum, I'm not sacrificing my battery and performance, for a 10% better camera (I tried it in the store, it is mediocre) or e-sim and 3.5mm hp jack.

Except I wasn't, I was trying to tell you that the Redmi Note 13 Pro still has its own strengths over iQOO Z9. You were the one justifying that the Z9 is better than competitors, which isn't true because competitors offer better aspects beyond just battery life and performance, such as camera quality, headphone jack, card slot, and software support.
"Not everyone needs super long battery and good performance statement is out of mind as well, those are like the basic requirements as a phone."
Don't forget other things like build quality, software experience, software support, etcetera. These are basic requirements as well. Even if the specs are good, no one deserves a flimsily-built device with buggy software and short updates.
"They gone all rounder and yet still barely better than a necessity focused phone tells something."
Let's not forget the Z9 came out 7 months after the Redmi Note 13 series. Before that, there was the iQOO Z7, which had a smaller 5000mAh battery. Also, "necessity-focused" is a broad term because everyone has different needs when they buy a phone, some just want good performance, some want good cameras, some want long updates, there's always a phone for everyone.
"Nobody would pay more and expecting to get less."
I'll tell you what, better performance and battery life alone don't equal "more" phone, like I already mentioned above, other things like build quality, cameras, software experience, and after-sales service are big deciding factors when you buy a phone. I used to make fun of Samsung users for the same thing, but then I realized that they have better software and longer support than most of these Chinese phones, so I give my respect to Samsung users.
"Redmi Note used to be the series where you wouldn't regret for the price, nowadays there are certainly better phones with less sacrifices, especially their own Poco series."
Well duh, because times always change and competitors emerge. I'm sure iQOO will suffer a similar fate once they've become popular enough, just you wait and see.

Why even say something out of nowhere like "if xxx brand doesn't exist your option will be a crap", no? Just pick other brand with specs you want, why would I buy Vivo?

By the way, the Redmi Note 14 Pro series are on the horizon, the Note 14 Pro+ will have a 6200mAh battery and 90W charging. Finally the Z9 will have some real competition soon 😉.

This phone is definitely for someone who need long lasting battery and good performance. Used it for a while now and really good for field work where no charging port available, manage to get +10 hours of screen on time (from 100% to ~30%) with mixed use.
The main weakness of this phone is its camera. No OIS for the main camera, quite noticeable different from my old samsung A33 (which got damaged by power bank). And that depth sensor... why vivo... why...

deRykcihC, 06 Sep 2024Redmi is also using UFS2.2, ultrawide quality is suck, only... moreA crappy ultrawide is still better than a pointless depth sensor. Besides, you get a better main cam, headphone jack, eSIM, and 1 extra year of software support if you choose the Redmi. So I'd say it's a fair trade-off, unless, like you said, you don't really need any of them.

Shame that the Z9 Turbo never got released in Indonesia. It would make a very compelling rival to the Poco F6 and Poco X6 Pro.
The regular Z9 is good, don't get me wrong, but the Z9 Turbo is much better because it has SD 8s Gen 3, ultrawide camera, OIS, and UFS 4.0 for just $275, which is insane. Vivo and iQOO really need to step up their game more for the international market.

I wish Vivo would make more great value phones like this instead of garbage like the Y28, Y100 5G, and V40 Lite. They make way too many phones each year and not all of them are worth buying.

deRykcihC, 30 Aug 2024People like you will justify anything lol, not everyone nee... morePoco is still part of Xiaomi at the end of the day. In fact, most Poco devices are just rebranded Redmi devices. The Poco X6 for example, is basically a Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G with a worse main camera and plastic body instead of glass so they can sell it for cheaper.
For me, iQOO Z9 is not comparable with Redmi Note 13 Pro because both phones are aimed for different markets - iQOO for power users, and Redmi for casual users and photographers. iQOO was made by Vivo to rival Xiaomi's Poco sub brand.
The Z9's closest rival would be the Poco X6 Pro, which is also a phone aimed for power users, with far better performance but worse battery life than Z9. The Redmi Note 13 Pro's rival would be the Vivo V30e, which is also a phone that aims for good camera quality, but has worse battery life than Z9 and only middling performance like the Redmi.

So eventually I got the Realme 12+, pretty underrated and great value phone that barely anyone buys here.

You need to grow up and accept that people have different needs and preferences when it comes to buying phones. If they like Redmi Note phones, just let them, there's no crime involved in liking things that don't hurt anyone, you can still like your iQOO phone however you like. Calling someone a "shill" kinda makes you one yourself.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2024Nicely explained! It's clear what you wanted from your... moreMy sister uses a Redmi Note 13 Pro for photography and Netflix, and she really loves it. Its performance and battery aren't the best like my Galaxy A35, but far from what I would consider crap like some people below.
For $280 (in Indonesia anyways) you're still getting a pretty good and balanced phone with a nice design, 1220p AMOLED, thin bezels, GG Victus, eSIM, Snapdragon processor, 4 years of software support, a solid main camera, and decently quick 67W charging.
Are there better options than the Redmi? Sure, but at least it's better than the Oppo Reno12 F, Vivo V30e, and Vivo Y100 5G.
