deRykcihC, 20 Sep 2024Nobody here would pick iqoo if iqoo doesn't exist, I&#... moreI just wanted to tell you some facts, that makes me a brand shill apparently.

By the way, the Redmi Note 14 Pro series are on the horizon, the Note 14 Pro+ will have a 6200mAh battery and 90W charging. Finally the Z9 will have some real competition soon 😉.

This phone is definitely for someone who need long lasting battery and good performance. Used it for a while now and really good for field work where no charging port available, manage to get +10 hours of screen on time (from 100% to ~30%) with mixed use.

The main weakness of this phone is its camera. No OIS for the main camera, quite noticeable different from my old samsung A33 (which got damaged by power bank). And that depth sensor... why vivo... why...

deRykcihC, 06 Sep 2024Redmi is also using UFS2.2, ultrawide quality is suck, only... moreA crappy ultrawide is still better than a pointless depth sensor. Besides, you get a better main cam, headphone jack, eSIM, and 1 extra year of software support if you choose the Redmi. So I'd say it's a fair trade-off, unless, like you said, you don't really need any of them.

Shame that the Z9 Turbo never got released in Indonesia. It would make a very compelling rival to the Poco F6 and Poco X6 Pro.

The regular Z9 is good, don't get me wrong, but the Z9 Turbo is much better because it has SD 8s Gen 3, ultrawide camera, OIS, and UFS 4.0 for just $275, which is insane. Vivo and iQOO really need to step up their game more for the international market.

I wish Vivo would make more great value phones like this instead of garbage like the Y28, Y100 5G, and V40 Lite. They make way too many phones each year and not all of them are worth buying.

deRykcihC, 30 Aug 2024People like you will justify anything lol, not everyone nee... morePoco is still part of Xiaomi at the end of the day. In fact, most Poco devices are just rebranded Redmi devices. The Poco X6 for example, is basically a Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G with a worse main camera and plastic body instead of glass so they can sell it for cheaper.

For me, iQOO Z9 is not comparable with Redmi Note 13 Pro because both phones are aimed for different markets - iQOO for power users, and Redmi for casual users and photographers. iQOO was made by Vivo to rival Xiaomi's Poco sub brand.

The Z9's closest rival would be the Poco X6 Pro, which is also a phone aimed for power users, with far better performance but worse battery life than Z9. The Redmi Note 13 Pro's rival would be the Vivo V30e, which is also a phone that aims for good camera quality, but has worse battery life than Z9 and only middling performance like the Redmi.

So eventually I got the Realme 12+, pretty underrated and great value phone that barely anyone buys here.

You need to grow up and accept that people have different needs and preferences when it comes to buying phones. If they like Redmi Note phones, just let them, there's no crime involved in liking things that don't hurt anyone, you can still like your iQOO phone however you like. Calling someone a "shill" kinda makes you one yourself.

Its performance and battery aren't the best like my Galaxy A35, but far from what I would consider crap like some people below.

For $280 (in Indonesia anyways) you're still getting a pretty good and balanced phone with a nice design, 1220p AMOLED, thin bezels, GG Victus, eSIM, Snapdragon processor, 4 years of software support, a solid main camera, and decently quick 67W charging.

Are there better options than the Redmi? Sure, but at least it's better than the Oppo Reno12 F, Vivo V30e, and Vivo Y100 5G.

If you only care about good performance and battery, then yeah, the Z9 would definitely suit you. But if you have other needs like camera quality and good software experience... and you're willing to sacrifice performance and battery life, there's other options out there, like the Redmi Note 13 Pro and Galaxy A35.

Basically there's always a phone for everyone, and (with very few exceptions) just because some are worse than others in performance and battery life doesn't make them "crappy" by comparison.

It's just that some people don't do all the fact checking; and they just argue on the brand names instead of what they want in a phone, and what the phone is actually offering.

It's similar to the the iphone consumers right- they release a new model, I have to have it. Period.
No matter if I need it or if it's actually better than the previous model, I just have to to have it in me hands.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2024IKR! like who doesn't want a long battery life and lon... more"if you don't want a good battery or good performance what else do you want from a phone? a crappy chip and short SOT with a super good camera? smh"

Well, I chose the Galaxy A35 over any other phone because I'm a longtime Samsung user, I'm a fan of One UI, and I wanted the long-term software support. Should I regret my purchase because of the fact that Exynos is prone to overheating, isn't as fast, and isn't as battery efficient as the Z9's Snapdragon chip? No, because the Z9 is just not the kind of phone I was looking for, and because I don't want to switch brands.

Of course everyone wants good performance and battery, but they aren't in my absolute top priority. Other aspects like the build quality, cameras, software stability, software support, and after-sales service make a phone for me. I refused to buy the Z9 because it will only receive 3 years of updates instead of 5 years like Samsung, the cameras are mediocre at best, Funtouch OS is just not my cup of tea, and I don't really trust Vivo as a brand.

As long as the phone is decently fast enough for everyday tasks and the battery can last through the entire day, which my Galaxy A35 does, I don't care. I don't need a battery that can last 5 days in a single charge, and/or a lightning quick processor that can open a simple app like Instagram in just one millisecond.

At least Xiaomi has reasons why they would sell the Note 13 Pro and Poco X6 Pro for nearly the same price, despite the Poco being the better choice for most people. The Note 13 Pro still has better overall build quality, better main cam, and eSIM support compared to Poco.

Meanwhile, there is virtually ZERO reason to buy the Vivo Y100 5G over the iQOO Z9, since the Z9 is better in literally every single aspect - cameras, screen, battery, performance, features, everything!

Vivo rarely makes good phones for less than $300, but when they do, in this case with their iQOO brand, they're so good that not only do they kill the competition, but also their own phones in the process. Way to go, Vivo.

The rest of it are non-issue also to me. Been using Z9 5G for the past 2 weeks, found it reliable & dependable each time i need to use it for basic stuff such as calling, video calling, messaging (whatsapp, IG, X, social media as a whole), music, email and internet surfing. Im not much of a gamer, but for my particular consumption, Z9 5G is the go to phone for business. Period. Kudos Vivo/Iqoo!
