New vivo T2 5G and T2x 5G announced, sales begin next week
As promised, vivo today introduced the vivo T2 5G series in India, "designed to meet the needs of young millennials and Gen Z users." It consists of the vivo T2 5G and vivo T2x 5G, which differ from their Chinese counterparts.
vivo T2 5G
Let's talk about the vivo T2 5G first. It is powered by the Snapdragon 695 SoC, unlike the Chinese model that was supposed to launch with the Snapdragon 870 chip. We say "supposed to" because the T2's China launch was canceled, but we got to learn about its specs since vivo mistakenly uploaded the T2's details on its website, which revealed it was just a version of iQOO Neo6 SE.
Circling back to the Indian T2, it runs Funtouch OS 13-based Android 13 and comes in 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB configurations. It also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion of up to 1TB.
The vivo T2 5G is built around a 6.38" FullHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz screen refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, and 1,300 nits peak brightness. The panel also has the dated waterdrop notch for the 16MP selfie camera.
Around the back, we get two big circles housing the 64MP primary camera (with OIS and EIS) and 2MP depth unit. The LED flash is also placed inside the circle.
Fueling the entire package is a 4,500 mAh battery, advertised to charge up to 50% in 25 minutes with a 44W power adapter. The rest of the Indian vivo T2 5G's highlights include USB-C, an in-display fingerprint reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone is 7.80mm thick and weighs 172g.
vivo T2x 5G
Let's focus on the vivo T2x 5G, advertised as "vivo's most affordable 5G smartphone" in India.
Unlike the Chinese version powered by the Dimensity 1300 chip, the Indian vivo T2x 5G comes with the Dimensity 6020 SoC under the hood. It runs Android 13 with Funtouch OS 13 on top and has three memory options - 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB, and 8GB/128GB. The smartphone also has a microSD card slot, allowing storage expansion by up to 1TB.
The Indian vivo T2x 5G packs a 6.58" 60Hz FullHD+ LCD with a notch for the 8MP selfie camera. And since this is an LCD panel, there's no fingerprint scanner underneath the display. But that doesn't mean vivo skipped it. It's embedded in the power button on the phone's right-side frame.
Like the T2, the T2x 5G also sports two big circles on its rear panel, housing two cameras - 50MP primary and 2MP depth. However, the LED flash is placed outside the circles on the T2x 5G.
The rest of the vivo T2x 5G's highlights include a USB-C port and a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W charging. It is 8.15mm thick and weighs 184g.
The vivo T2 5G comes in Nitro Blaze and Velocity Wave colors. Its 6GB/128GB version is priced at INR18,999 ($230/€210), while the 8GB/128GB model costs INR20,999 ($255/€235). The T2 5G will go on sale in India starting April 18 through vivo India's official website and Flipkart.
The vivo T2x 5G, on the other hand, comes in Glimmer Black, Aurora Gold, and Marine Blue colors. Its 4GB/128GB variant is priced at INR12,999 ($160/€145), 6GB/128GB model at INR13,999 ($170/€155), and 8GB/128GB version at INR15,999 ($195/€180). They will be sold through Flipkart and vivo's official Indian website starting April 21.

Should be on all phones by now. It’s 2023, not 2018-19 when they were cool

Why does the 5g version have a waterdrop notch? Dumb downgrade

It's dumb for vivo to be selling two very different phones under the same name in different markets, but at least the prices are good for the downgraded specs.
