Who really want to buy this V5? It is a downgrade from V3 Max. Using MT6750 instead of Snapdragon 652. Pair with Mali GPU instead of Adreno 510. Only HD screen resulting in 267ppi for 5.5inch display instead of using FullHD which gives 401ppi for 5.5inch display. You are paying more for less features. Actually Vivo cut corners for the sake of the 20mp selfie camera and the Moonlight flash. Thats where all the money goes. You are in reality paying for the 20mp selfie camera. The rest of the specs are below average. Truth hurts but yeah, the specs is actually same as low budget smartphone priced around $120. All the extra dollars are simply the powerful camera.

Good review. I also think why 720 p phone with a basic CPU has 4gb ram. It's only for those brain zero beauty 100 types that don't use their phone for anything other than selfies.

abdul, 23 Nov 2016It is fast chargingPlease do not misguide people with wrong information. The Vivo V5 comes with one of the lowest grade, very cheap and extremely below performing processor by today standards. This Soc named MediaTek MT6750 does not support fast charging, and this phone ships with a standard 10 watt charger. The MT6750 is designed to be used in budget INR 6k phones.

Julliard, 22 Nov 2016Is there any chance the Y67 is actually the exact same smar... moreYES.
Vivo initially launched the V-Series specifically for Indian market. They were not new phones but rebranded Y-Series units. Same goes for Y67 and V3.

Non-removable battery, so disposable phone, somehow.
Or can it be replaced in vivo service center?

Raju, 21 Nov 2016Hi RishiGuru,
Thanks for feedback. I have read your revi... moreThe AKM AK4376 audio chip is an integrated DAC + Headphone Amplifier. It is build upon AKM AK4375 which slight improvement in SNR, an objective measurement to denote sound quality. That said it is not a sea change improvement. Vivo's primary goal was always to provide HiFi audio over headphones. If you look at all their past handsets, they are primary segregated into three different categories as below:
1) Flagship X-Series Phones: These came with most expensive ESS DACs, ESS op-amps, TI headphone amplifiers and discrete power supplies for out-of-the-world audio performance. Some of their flagships came with slightly lower quality Cirrus Logic DACs & Maxim headphone amplifiers.
2) Mid Tier V-Series & some Y-Series phones: These phone came with a more cost effective and integrated audio solution like AKM AK4375 & now AKM AK4376. The sound quality achieved is not even remotely close to the high end ESS DACs.
3) Budget Y- Series: Does not comes with any audio chip and uses the SoCs low quality audio codecs, with low quality sound.
The AK4375/ AK4376 will give you pleasant surprise in terms of audio quality provided you have not heard a top end Vivo flagship device like X5Max. I know the sound signature of AK4375/ AK4376 very well. It is warm sounding, velvet mids with reasonable bass. To give you a comparison the Vivo V3Max with in-built AK4375 audio chip will decimate OnePlus 3 in audio quality over headphones. You get the picture. As you claim yourself an audiophile, you should get the best in the game. If you love music, get the Vivo X5Max. IT IS THE BEST AUDIOPHILE PHONE IN THE WORLD.
The Vivo V3Max, V3, X5Pro, V1Max and Y27L comes with the standard AKM AK4375 integrated DAC cum headphone amplifier which produces decent sound. And the AK4376 in V5 will be no different. But these phones simply cannot compete with the holy trinity of ESS Sabre ES9018 + ESS Sabre ES9601 + Texas Instruments OPA1612 found in Vivo X5Max. Another factor to count is if your audio collection consist of audio FLAC files then only X5Max will be able to play them with i-Music player. Now the ball is in your court. Choose.

AnonD-557636, 21 Nov 2016You get a Mediatek. some of their respected processors are ... moreNow-a-days people are crazy about RAM. The general convention is: 4 GB RAM is better than 2 GB and 6 GB is even better 4 GB as it makes your phone faster. This is true provided you have a SoC/ chipset which is capable to handle and utilize that size of RAM.
A Snapdragon 615 SoC of 2014 works like charm with 2 GB RAM provided you have an well optimized Android OS running the show. An example will be Vivo X5Max. Get a twice powerful SoC like Snapdragon 652 in Vivo V3Max you will be in need for more RAM. Thus V3Max comes with 4 gigs of RAM as its SoC is capable to fully utilize that RAM capacity to full effect. Even more powerful SoCs like Snapdragon 820 can effectively utilize 6 GB or more RAM.
Unfortunately very few people understands this balance of SoC and RAM, and phone companies takes maxium profit from this inadequacy. They give you very cheap & low quality SoCs with high RAM capacity to increase their profit margin. Take for example the recently launched Vivo V5 with sky high unjustified price of INR 19K. It comes with MediaTek MT6750 SoC, which is one of the bottom line chipset from MediaTek. It is so weak that it does not even support FullHD/ 1080p resolution hence you get a 720p display in V5. And just for marketing purposes Vivo is shipping V5 with 4 gigs of RAM which the cheap and weak MT6750 SoC will never able to properly utilize. Even the superior Snapdragon 615 in X5Max will grind V5 in performance charts.
My personal opinion is, DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. Or even the Oppo F1s on which this phone is based. These phones are total waste of money and built for selfie maniacs. For the same money get the Vivo V3Max, a true winner, way superior phone and complete value for money.
