vivo X23 set to arrive on September 6

Yordan, 27 August 2018

The vivo X23 appeared numerous times in the past few weeks, including some live photos and official teasers by the company. Today the manufacturer announced on Weibo the official release date of the upcoming smartphone - September 6. It is the same day the vivo V11 Pro is being outed in India, meaning both phones might be the same but with a different moniker for different markets.

The upcoming vivo X23 will have fourth-generation under-display fingerprint scanner. It should be faster and more reliable than the one in the vivo NEX S, according to the company. The screen has evolved from the vivo X21 and now the notch for the selfie camera got even smaller while the speaker is embedded in the minuscule top bezel.

According to a Geekbench listing, the phone could have Snapdragon 710 chipset and 8 GB RAM, but a Chinese benchmark revealed a Snapdragon 670 with just 6 GB RAM. Other specs include Full HD+ resolution with 19.5:9 ratio and an AI dual camera, likely a 12 MP + 5 MP setup.

The company has the habit of promoting two phones under the same name (like it did with the vivo X21 and vivo X21 UD or the NEX S and the NEX A), so we might have a vivo X23 UD with the fingerprint scanner and the more powerful SoC and a regular vivo X23 with the SD670 and a sensor on the back panel.
