i owned this phone for about 1 month now.does anyone know the effect if its is charged while its on or off would give any difference on its performance? would the performance slightly drop either way? if the phone is used for sms-ing during charging will affect the battery life? thanks for replying

Interesting. Thanks for your reply. I haven't experienced any dropped calls yet, but I don't talk on the phone too often either (about 5 calls a day).

Thank you for your reply and tip regarding charging via USB. May I ask what frequency band you are using? I am on the 850/1900 band. Those who are on the 900/1800 band have not noticed the "popping" sound while talking either.

If you wan to received call during charging via USB, u hav to set PC Connection from Mass Storage to PC Sync. Than phone will not switch to USB mode when insert data cable.
I do not have popping sound as you mention when using my VK2020. So far, i been using for a month plus, everything pretty good.
            Will keep on update....... :)

The aesthetics of this phone are exceptional. It looks and feels great. The phone is pretty basic, but that's to be expected given its size. Battery life is about 2 days with moderate use. I do have a couple of questions for those of you that own the phone too. Does anyone experience a "popping" glitchy sound while talking on the phone. Also, is it possible to receive calls while the phone is being charged via USB? I can't receive calls when it is being charged through the USB port. Thanks in advance for your comments and feedback.

Cingular internet settings took a good while to set up, using a process of trial and error, and previous phone settings to get it to work. My previous phone was EDGE data, and to tell you the truth, I cannot tell the difference in speed between EDGE and the VK Class 10GPRS. The only drawbacks to the phone is that PC sync software CD does NOT work at all, and you have to download software from their China region website, intermitten weak reception in large buildings, and my friends say that I sound tinny on their end. No excessive heat issues, and battery drains to 1/2 bar a day with about @30min talktime, @15 min internet,@ 5-10 SMS, all expected for a phone of this size. I noticed that using MP3 and animated screensaver will drain the battery much quicker. Overall better than expected.

                    @James

That socalled Linx M2688 is a Chinese version of Motorolla Razr in sliding format. Interestingly Motorolla came out with their own Razr Slider after that and it looks horrible. I dont know how good this phones operation though. But in china its called CECT S500 and cost 215USD. I dont know why the same phone is under different name. Even the ebay ad looks suspicious. It doesnt say which model your bidding for. So be carefull.

I'm debating whether to buy the VK2020 at Wapzon or the Linx M2688 at an Ebay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9712741873)

Does anyone have any comments about the Linx phone? I haven't been able to find any reviews anywhere but the phone looks awesome. Any suggestions or information are greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just received vk2020 from wapzon, user manual is in english only, phone has full reception with cingular service in bay area. screen is bright, crisp and tight, and it's scary how light the phone is! slimmest phone i've ever seen!

I'm interested in an English manual as well. BTW, I read in the news that Infosonics will carry VK models, and they mentioned VK2030 model. Is it a step-up model from this one? I didn't see any mention of that model from VK Mobile at all.

Currently awaiting delivery of my vk2020, Does anybody know if there is a manual in english? I can only find the manual in french off of the vk website. They do have the manual in english for the vk2000 model, does anybody know if the vk2000 manual is the same, except for mp3 and bluetooth instructions? Thanks

Wake up call for VK. Samsung has a 6.9mm bar phone (x828) that even comes with 2mp cam. Good for VK that it works on CDMA for now.

i got this unit 2 days ago. looks super cool & has a fantastic screen- clarity & brightness is 2nd to none. a few problems though:-
                                  1) battery life is low- 1 to 2 days only even when usage is low
                                  2) LCD heats up a bit
                                  3) once, the timer on the LCD screen did not take effect, i.e. the LCD screen was continuously lit up although mobile was not used. mobile heated up quite a fair bit until battery died

I have had the VK2020 for a few days now and have tested the heating issue with calls that go for more than 10 minutes.

I found that the LCD does warm up after a few minutes, but does not continue to increase and does not get to a point where it is uncomfortably hot. I purchased mine from wapzon and can highly recommend them.

This may change based on where you purchased your phone, but the VK2020 that I ordered from Malaysia only has English, two types of Chinese, and Malay listed as language options for the phone.

Other than a full firmware upgrade where the new firmware may include support for new languages, I've never heard of any cell phone where support for a language can be "added" modularly like that. And the VK2020 is no exception. There isn't even any obvious way of updating its firmware yet.

Does anyone know if there is swedish as optional language pre-programmed on the vk2020? If there isn't; can I download software updates to the phone?
