German deals: Nothing Phone (2a) goes on pre-order, Samsung Galaxy A15 5G goes on sale

The Nothing Phone (2a) was announced this week – the first attempt at a mid-ranger from the company. Nothing has been a stylish value-for-money brand since its inception and it’s quite clear with the (2a).

This €330 mid-ranger packs a large 6.7” 120Hz AMOLED display (10-bit colors) with FHD+ resolution with Gorilla Glass 5 (and IP54 dust and water resistance). It has a very similar 50+50MP rear and 32MP front camera setup as the more premium Phone (2).

Inside is a larger 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging (though without any wireless charging). The phone’s Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset beats the 778G of the original Phone (1), if not as fast as the chipset inside the Phone (2). Note that 4 extra gigs of RAM and double the storage cost only €50 more – well worth the upgrade. Also, you can pick up the phone with a free pair of CMF Buds Pro (worth €50 on their own).

Right now the 12/256GB Nothing Phone (2) is €580 and the 512GB variant is €680, which is quite a premium over the a-model. That premium does buy some nice things – the faster Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, for one. And it enables 4K @ 60fps video recording, while the Dimensity tops out at 4K @ 30fps. Also, the 6.7” display is an LTPO panel (still FHD+ resolution, though). And there is 15W wireless charging.

A couple of weeks ago we welcomed the Galaxy A25 with a small discount (the price has gone up a bit since). Now its more affordable sibling, the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, has arrived at just under €200 (which is €35 down from MSRP). Powered by the Dimensity 6100+, this phone has expandable storage and comes with Android 14 out of the box. It will receive 3 OS updates and 4 years of security patches.

The 6.5” FHD+ AMOLED display is similar to the A25, but it runs at 90Hz instead of 120Hz. And the ultra wide camera has a 5MP sensor (down from 8MP), but the 50MP main and 13MP selfie are the same. The 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired-only charging is the same too.

The Realme 12 Pro is already official, so the Realme 11 Pro got a price cut, placing it around €50 above the Galaxy A15 5G. This one has a 6.7” OLED display and it is a 120Hz 10-bit panel (also FHD+ resolution). The main camera has a 100MP sensor (with OIS), but there’s no ultra wide. Unlike the Galaxy, this model doesn’t have a microSD slot or a 3.5mm headphone jack. What it does have is 67W fast charging for its 5,000mAh battery.

There’s also the Realme 12 Pro+ in a 12/512GB configuration. It has the same Dimensity 7050 chipset and 6.7” 120Hz OLED display as the regular Pro, but it upgrades to a 200MP main camera (still with OIS) and even has an 8MP ultra wide. Additionally, the selfie camera gets double the resolution (32MP) and the 5,000mAh battery is upgraded to 100W charging.

Going back to the under €200 price range, the Moto G54 features a 6.5” 120Hz IPS LCD (FHD+ resolution) as an alternative to the 6.5” 90Hz OLED of the Galaxy A15 5G. The 50MP camera on this one has OIS but it lacks an ultra wide partner. Also, the 5,000mAh battery is even slower with just 15W charging support.

Even better. Dont know any UI which is more horrible than bloatware called OneUI. Dont know your preferences but for me stock android is best and Oxygen OS or Nothing OS comes at second place. Third is Hyper OS along with Harmony. Nothing fourt...

I know, but they don't have OneUI.

There are so many better phones for 175 euros.
