Weekly poll results: here are your favorite flagships from 2024

Peter, 12 January 2025

Last week we asked you to vote for your favorite flagship of 2024. The results are in and it looks like Samsung had a stellar year.

Let’s start with the first poll, the one for the classic bar smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra dominated this category and received a third of the votes – it was far and away the most popular device on the list. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra and vivo X200 Pro were nearly dead even with 9% and 8.9% of the votes, respectively. The Google Pixel 9 Pro and Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max deserve honorable mentions with 8% and 7.8% of the vote, respectively. Close to the Xiaomi and vivo, but no match for the Samsung.

The horizontal foldable poll was hotly contested, much more so than the other two. Here, Samsung took the top place again with the Galaxy Z Fold6, beating the Honor Magic V3 by a percentage point. The first-ever tri-fold device, the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate secured third with 12.4%. The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold deserves an honorable mention with 11.6% of the vote. Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Fold Special only received 8.4% of the vote – both it and the XT Ultimate have very limited availability, but one is a lot more ambitious than the other.

Finally, in the flip foldable category, Samsung scored another decisive victory – the Galaxy Z Flip6 took first place with a bit over a third of the vote. It doesn’t have the same lead on the competition that the Z Fold does, but there is still quite a gap between it and second place – the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra/razr+ 2024 with 22.9%. Third place went to the Xiaomi Mix Flip.

Naturally, there was a big contingent of “I don’t want a foldable” voters, but that was more impactful in the horizontal foldable poll (where it got the most votes) than the flip foldable poll (where it had less support than the Z Flip6 and Razr).

We are heading into a new year that is already bearing new phones. Will cameras continue to be a major driving factor for flagships? Will flip foldables edge out the rigid designs? What will happen with horizontal foldables? These questions will be answered in the next twelve months – but if you have any predictions, leave them in the comments.

Here in India (within my circle) for flagships its mostly iphones or a oneplus. We do seem to have a herd mental though.

I'm not surprised by the results. Samsung has a huge advantage. They've been selling the S24Ultra for almost five years. 🤣
