Weekly poll results: Xiaomi 13 Ultra's fate to be decide by reviews
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra remains the most popular phone in our database, a week after it went live. Clearly, it has captured people’s attention – but most people aren’t rushing out the door to get one. Last week’s poll shows that despite its elite pedigree, the phone will have to prove itself in reviews.
Is it really the camera king? We’re in the process of finding out. Its predecessor, the 12S Ultra, earned a place in our hearts, but its limited availability made it a non-starter for most fans around the world. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is different, it is a global phone, even if the company hasn’t detailed its rollout plans yet.
The new Ultra went on sale in China last week with a staring price of CNY 6,000 for a 12/256GB unit. Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the global pricing yet either, but we can look at the 13 Pro for comparison – the 12/256GB unit has an MSRP of CNY 5,000 in China and €1,300 in Germany. Solving for X reveals that the 13 Ultra should be around €1,560.
That’s pricey, but can you really put a price on the photos you will take with the quad 50MP cameras? Of course, this isn’t the only phone with Sony’s 1” IMX989 sensor, so just over 40% of voters are waiting on detailed reviews to find out if the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is the beset phone to be entrusted with taking cherished family photos.
A smaller contingent has already made up their minds and are just waiting on the phone to arrive in their region. As for the first group, they may not have much of a choice if they want a premiere camera phone – the Oppo Find X6 Pro and vivo X90 Pro+ are not getting a global rollout and those are two of the chief rivals of the Ultra.
Then there is the group that already knows that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is not for them. For everyone else, stay tuned, our review will be out soon.
