But certain test reports that I have seen for devices have bands that they don't turn on for certain markets based on country or region code. So it is a mix imo.

Why does Xiaomi think it's ok to blind people with under display optical fingerprint sensors? I'd rather it be slower and ultrasonic or make it infrared so that I don't get blinded at night. Or use the side mounted ones that you use on your cheaper phones, those are the most ergonomically positioned ones anyway and faster than anything under the screen.

Reducing the number of bands allows for cheaper components that work in more limited ranges. You may "unlock" other frequencies in software and *maybe* still be fine (i.e., the circuitry still works despite being out of spec), but be warned things aren't as pretty as you may think.
