This is my first Android flagship, having bought midrange phones since I turned 18 and started buying my own phones and paying my own bill. I absolutely love this thing. I bought it on sale and a little less than a year after its introduction, allowing me to acquire this incredible phone for only $550 at the time. It still runs very smoothly here in 2024 and I have no significant complaints about it.
Build quality and durability is excellent, I've dropped it onto concrete a few times with only the cheap black gummy case included and it survived every time with no visible damage. The performance is also great, being able to run most mobile games I do play while working great for multitasking. There is almost no stuttering or lag when swiping across screens.
The cameras on this phone are some of the best I've personally used, producing breathtaking photos in most settings while having great low light performance. The sheer resolution, sensor size, and 2x optical zoom can be safely zoomed out to 5x digital zoom with no noticeable degradation in quality. The optical stabilization of the main lens is great and keeps photos and videos smooth. Pro mode on the camera is excellent and feature packed, allowing selecting individual lenses even.
The battery is starting to show its age now, but it still lasts long enough for me and the included 120W charger still brings it back up to full in less than an hour which is perfectly usable for me. The phone's hardware appears to be quite efficient for what it is as well.
The breathtaking OLED display is really good, bright, usable in bright light, and blends flawlessly into the edges of the phone. Bezels are absolutely tiny, almost non-existent, and are even on all sides with a tiny hole punch camera in the top center. Pairing this display with the incredible 12GB of RAM and Snapdragon 8 chipset provides excellent video and gaming performance, the 120Hz display making it buttery smooth.
On the software side, MIUI is decent enough, though I installed my time tested favorite, Nova Launcher, for my home screen. MIUI has decent enough features and is a good enough skin of Android, not eating up too much performance in my experience. Rooting the device is easy as Xiaomi provides access to a free and unrestricted tool to unlock the bootloader, opening up the system to flash new ROMs, TWRP, and Magisk.
A drawback is the ad-infested stock software. I fixed it initially using AdGuard, though inevitably ended up using ADB to soft-remove these and install my own alternatives, eventually fully removing them from the device when I rooted it.
Overall, this phone is still solid in 2024, though its cons can be quite infuriating if you aren't into the more technical side of android, tweaking your device, the bloatware and built in ads are much more annoying when they can't be removed easily otherwise.
Pros:
- Great display
- Amazing charging speed
- Excellent cameras
- Beautiful sleek design
- Powerful specs even in 2024
- Cheap for a flagship phone
Cons:
- Ad-infested stock software, even vital things like the file manager. If you're into the more technical aspect of Android usage, remove immediately.
- Battery degradation becomes quite noticeable after a long time
- MIUI can take some getting used to
- Can be confusing for US customers to ensure they are getting the right version
- Can be easily confused for the Dimensity version which has noticeably worse specs, including the cameras even

Best phone, but recently 120w charging could take up to 50mn to fully charge. Since I bought it new it just take only 25mn to fully charged. That's is the problem. Other still the best. Love this phone.

My 12 pro is 2 years old and will last 24 hours without charge never had a problem with it and I must say it's the best phone I've had so gonna stick with the model and go for the 14 ultra see if it's as reliable as the 12pro

Someone from India, 19 Dec 2023I have Mi 12 Pro 12+256
Battery on this is terrible. Nee... moreYeah. I came here to post the same thing. My battery dies within 6 hours of continous usage.
Personally, I don't feel like it is genuinely 4600mAh. Should be 3100mAh instead and the 120w is just a marketting gimmick while it charges the smaller battery at 66W and so it does within 18 minutes advertised.
Most phone companies lie and this is not new in the industry. It's a scam and we are bought into buying subpar phones. When I saw low rating on GSMArena's battery endurance I thought they probably didn't do it right because it's freakin 4600mah, but they are totally correct. I truely believe in their battery endurance ratings now.

150?
So it's used probably.
Well IF you trust the seller, than it's hard to beat these specs.
But perhaps read the review to see if it's the right device for you.

Senad DE, 13 Sep 2023Hello , kann someone tell my what is meaning 12+3gb of RAM ... moreIt means it has 12gb of RAM and 3gb virtual RAM. If you don't know, virtual RAM is using some of your ROM as RAM. For example, in this phone you can use 3gb of the 256gb you have as ROM and turn them to RAM so then you'll have 15gb RAM and 253gb ROM. But virtual RAM is not as good as actual RAM so people say 12+3gb RAM instead of 15gb RAM
