Xiaomi 13 Ultra case leaks showing humongous camera island
At the end of this week, Xiaomi is announcing international availability for the 13 and 13 Pro that it initially unveiled in China in December. And yet, the family is obviously missing an Ultra. The company's CEO may have said there won't be a 13S Ultra this year, but he mentioned nothing about the 13 Ultra, which has seen a steadily increasing number of leaks in recent weeks.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was unveiled in July of 2022, so its successor still has plenty of time to arrive. Today a couple of images depicting a case which is purportedly meant for the upcoming Xiaomi 13 Ultra have been outed, and they paint the picture of an absolutely humongous circular camera island.
Of course, we're used to that already, since the 12S Ultra's was not small by any stretch of the imagination either. Today's case leak is also in line with a purported sketch of the device, as well as an alleged live hands-on image, both of which leaked last week in China. You can see the former below, and the latter below the next paragraph.
The arrangement of the sensors seems to be similar, but it's not 100% either. The oval-shaped cutout at the top of the island may well serve a purpose, but it's not obvious what it would be from the other leaked images.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is rumored to be launched in March or April, at least in China. It should have a huge focus on photography, unsurprisingly given the Ultra lineage. According to one past leak, the 13 Ultra will keep its predecessor's 1-inch main sensor, but will add gimbal stabilization. All four cameras on the back will have autofocus, and there will be a dToF (direct Time-of-Flight) sensor too. Stick around and we'll let you know when we find out more.

How much ever big the 1.0 type sensor may be, Xiaomi's camera software processing is poor. Once Samsung and Google start using similar tech, Xiaomi will fall short again.
