Need suggestions.
Looking for a phone for daily usage(not a gamer). Confused between Xiaomi 14 & Samsung Galaxy S23. Is there any issue with Xiaomi 14?
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately i have to say that i am quite disappointed by the camera. I am really no fake sharpness lover, but the pictures of the Xiaomi 14 are all extremly blurry. Its like the focus is always(!) off. When using a tripod and pro mode with ISO 50 and long exposure time even the pictures of a sub 100€ Redmi Note 12 4G look much clearer/better. Again, i dont like the over-sharpened pictures of the iphones for example, but i dont like this ether. Its also not fixable with the texture slider in pro mode or applying sharpness after.

I got the EU version running the global rom for about 700USD. I have only been using it for about 1 day but I don't know where all these battery issue come from I have been playing demanding games on it HI3 PGR EX ASTRIS and the battery drain is amazing I lose at most maybe 10%/H with the game boost on. The camera is amazing I it doesn't fog up on my model. The speakers are good. The phone is very slippery thoe so that's a minus. Also the camera unit is really that big as thay say so I had to adjust my normal way of holding phones. HyperOS is fun to use, I was afraid a bit after hearing so many bad things about it but a joy to use so far. My unit does not have ads in it and barely had and pre installed apps. All of the ware easy uninstalled. The os by default is IOS like. Not IOS just similar but with a bit of tuning it's back to the good old android look that I love. The phone is an easy 8/10

CompactUser, 06 May 2024Congrats on the new phone bro!! Yeah those massive discount... moreIf you are thinking of buying OnePlus 12 you can buy it with your eyes closed. This is the most value for money with close to perfect rating across all the parameters. IQOO 12 comes very close but falters at two points i.e. battery and display, though its camera may be a tad better. Of course, there are S24U, iPhone 15 PM or Xiaomi 14 Ultra but at a different price segment. This is presently my primary phone and I have not experienced any green line issue, either in OP12 or in OP11.
As far as S23 is concerned, it is a decent one and fulfills my requirement of handling a compact phone. I am getting a decent battery life of around 30 hours with SOT of 7 hours (100% to 10%), even after update to One UI 6.1. And there is no heating issue apart from when I engage the phone for a long (30 minutes+) video call.
But yes, this is too early to give a final opinion as the mobile is still learning my usage pattern.

This is a beast of a phone with superb performance and stellar cameras. The super macro mode is awesome. The selfie camera could have been better, and not having autofocus seems very odd to me.
The only thing that is subpar is the software for a phone that has amazing hardware. I am on February security patch, in Mid-May. And i wish the UI was cleaner, with less layer of menu options. Other that, i am extremely satisified. FYI, I had switched from a S9, which is peak samsung to me!

Hello, I am looking for a replacement for my old Huawei P30. I think the 14 is a good successor (minus external storage). Does someone here done that? Is the 14 a good device? Tx!

Mad4Mobile, 02 May 2024Ha ha ha, enjoyed your comments 😂. Yes, I wish Asus Zenfone... moreCongrats on the new phone bro!! Yeah those massive discounts of flipkart are crazy. Only reason I am not buying the samsungs is that I already have been using galaxy S9 as my only phone since 2018. SO I wanna try something different. I am thinking of buying either Oneplus 12r or Nothing 3 (when it releases and depending on specs/performance who wins). I have kinda given up on the compact dream ;(.
Also I have been hearing many quality issues in Oneplus phones like screen lines, buggy camera after 1 year, etc. Did you face any of those in OnePlus 12 or previous Oneplus if you owned? Also how has the battery been in S23. I guess too soon to ask since it's been hardly few days since you got it right?

Battery drain is really frustrating. 8% battery drain overnight in battery saver mode! And all those apps are running in background even in restricted background activity mode. Am I the only one having this? Really need a quick fix.

Davy Jones, 03 May 2024No you wont . I have been using the phone for 2 months now.... moreI've had mine for 2 months as well, I easily get 7 hours SOT from 90-10% and I usually play intensive games for 2 of those hours. The phone is perfect except for one thing, it heats up really quick when doing anything demanding but it's never unbearable.

CompactUser, 30 Apr 2024Broooooooooooo, YOU ARE LITERALLY ME !!! That is exactly wh... moreHa ha ha, enjoyed your comments 😂. Yes, I wish Asus Zenfone 10 were available in India. Don't know what is the deterrent 🙄. It perfectly suits my requirement including, most importantly, the battery back up. But, one negative is it gives lesser no. of updates, I was told.
Coming back to Xiaomi 14, I had almost finalised it and would have purchased it had there not been so many complaints of heating issue and battery drain. It has so many positive points like SD 8 Gen 3, superb camera, perfect size etc. But, the heating issue occupied my mind. The other mobiles shortlisted by you are not suitable for me as they are not compact ones.
After considering all the pros and cons of the handsets in my list, I have finally booked Samsung Galaxy S23 today (256 GB). As it will be my secondary phone (I am really enjoying my One Plus 12, the primary one), I have not given much importance to RAM or the chipset (SD 8 Gen 2 is not an inferior one by any means though) or the battery capacity (3900 mAh), but the size was the most important factor. Another catalyst was the discount (20K) that Flipkart is giving starting today. I got the 256 GB variant at a net price of 50K.
Delivery expected on this Saturday.

Mad4Mobile, 28 Apr 2024Dear All, I am planning to buy a compact phone as my second... moreBroooooooooooo, YOU ARE LITERALLY ME !!! That is exactly what I am also looking from a phone. Please bro, do tell me if you finalize a mobile phone. I have also been searching since many days. As per me, I could shortlist 3 phones:
Xiaomi 14
OnePlus 12R
IQOO 12
Nothing 3 (waiting for the upcoming one)
All the above phones have comparable performance and features. Only thing xiaomi 14 is bit pricey. And, 12r is snapdragon gen 2 rest all are on gen 3. I think nothing 3 might be on gen 2 also.
What do you think about this list? IQOO 12, 12R and Nothing 3 will be very large screen sizes and not compact at all. So there is this issue as well.
DON'T YOU WISH ASUS ZENPHONE WAS AVAILABLE IN INDIA ?! ;(
