Anonymous, 31 Oct 2023I think, you don't know how ppi works... Yeah the number of pixels on the Xiaomi 14 pro is probably more than that on the LG V50 because the bigger screen on the Xiaomi 14 pro that's 6.4 and 538ppi on the V50 that's 3,443.2 pixels vs 6.73 and 522ppi on the Xiaomi 14pro that's 3,513.06 pixels

Anonymous, 31 Oct 2023I'm not even sure you read the post in its entirety be... moreFair point. In the end we can only speculate anyway, I'll just remain suspicious until those phones become as open and secure as a Pixels are currently. And I am indeed currently running GrapheneOS on my Pixel 8 Pro. The trade-off with this approach is the higher price despite inferior hardware, although the actual use/experience is pretty much flawless regardless, on top of top tier camera performance. Putting aside what someone might or might not intentionally put inside the OS or firmware, with the Pixel's (plus GOS) I can be fairly certain it's as secure as it gets currently (in the Android space anyway, but Apple's walled garden isn't for me). If Xiaomi ever starts releasing devices that catch the eye of the GOS developers, I'd have no reservations about them anymore. Do mind I don't really trust most other brands for the same issues. Especially not Samsung. With Xiaomi undercutting the prices this much, it just seemed a little extra weird. But again, all speculations until results follow.

I've got plenty mitigations to keep that data leakage within reason (GrapheneOS, plenty ad and tracker blocking across all my devices, reasonable privacy practices). I am also aware that the West isn't necessarily entirely honest about what they say about the East, but you can be certain that neither side is honest anyway. Your best bet is trusting community development in that aspect. All they gotta do is provide the same level of openness that Google provides with the Pixel series (but again, Google seems to be unique in that regard, which is ironic, given what they make money with normally). That would show that they can actually be trusted to leave us a choice.

Being a "real gamer" isn't determined by the platform you choose. Mobile games demand skill, strategy, and dedication, just like games on other platforms. Many mobile games have competitive scenes and dedicated player communities. The idea that a "real gamer" is confined to certain platforms is outdated and exclusionary. Gamers come in various forms, and what truly matters is the enjoyment and passion for gaming, regardless of the platform.
