Anonymous, 02 Mar 2024Yes it's true. This is what I said a few days ago. And... more1) This is not a crime.
2) Unique versions for home market is not new.
3) We don't know what is the reason for no Si-Ca battery in global version. It could be supply constraints or using home market as beta testers or missing approval by EU or similar.
4) There are several reasons why the Chinese model can cost less; your country/regions local VAT, retail cost incl. storage cost, warranty terms, regional patents and the fact that it is a Google Android OS with Google play, Google drive etc. In China it is running Xiaomi's own app store and cloud storage services etc. Giving Xiaomi the revenue that Google gets outside of China.
Are you familiar with games consoles? Microsoft and Sony sells the Xbox and Playstation consoles at losses, because they earn money on their customers using them. Buying games and subscribing to this and that. In their home market, Xiaomi gets revenue from their smartphone customers in a completely different way than in EU, in example. Hence more cost must be baked into the sale of the device outside of China. Not saying they sell the HW at a loss, because they likely don't, but they future costs of support and firmware upgrades etc. doesn't have to be baked in they same way.

Jana, 02 Mar 2024It's not all about specs brother ..... It's the e... moreKnowledge is power.
Many reviews and tests focus on snappyness, where all flagships do well, camera performance - where the pixel 8 pro does much better than S24 Ultra - then screen brightness and lastly the built in speakers.
In other words they only skim the surface.
They focus way too little on everything else - including format support for wireless audio. Which should be a mandatory part of reviews as almost all upper midrange and flagships have dropped mininjack, so all audio is wireless. S24 Ultra does not meet flagship grade here, as it has no LHDC nor aptX of any kind. Not the base level atpX, not aptx LL, not aptX HD, not aptX adaptive nor aptX Lossless.
The Pixel 8 pro does better, as it at least supports aptX HD. Xiaomi 13 Ultra supports LHDC, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive. Besting them both. Meaning better sound to your TWS or bluetooth speakers/system.
Very many people has their smartphone as their main device for computing and media consumption. Screen quality is not limited to contrast + max brightness - which is what you will hear about from a typical smartphone review/test.
Samsung cheaps out by far by solely offering 8-bit panels maxing out at 16.7 million colors. Hence no true HDR performance on their devices. Only the brightness aspect, not the color volume. 10-bit (1 billion colors) have been available in smartphones since 2019!
And Xiaomi has been offering 12-bit (up to 68 billion colors) for a few years now.
Dolby Vision is also the most widely spread (aside from base HDR10) and technologically superior HDR format. Xiaomi supports it, Samsung doesn't. Again, cheaping out times two on their display. No HDR colors and no dolby vision suport, meaning their users will more likely end up watching the HDR10 stream, with limited color reproduction.

I really want to pre-order this phone but still I can't find any good comprehensive reviews of the global version. UK pre-order deal is very tempting with free photography kit and free pad 6 with a trade in bonus of 150 pounds.

I need one someone help me get it. Staying without a smartphone is killing.
If you actually into photography, I recommend the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, S24U is a good piece but X14U is worth it.
One thing keeps my interest in the Xiaomi family and that is the Infrared port support. Samsung stoped it on the s4 and never pushed for it anymore.
With the Xiaomi 14U x-rays are more visible and accurate or doing an ultrasound scan.

PanRT, 02 Mar 2024Why no review? There is an embargo on the global variant of this device. It seems to be in the pre-order stage at the moment and it will likely be another couple of weeks before Xiaomi starts acutal deliveries.
They will definitely have a review when Xiaomi lifts the embargo and allows them to publish it.

BigDisplay, 02 Mar 2024Just buy the Chinese version with the eu rom in a short tim... moreThank you for your answer and recommendation but buying a Xiaomi Chinese version is not good for use in Europe. Chinese version does not have 4G B20 band which is so important for Europe. That's why I said all Chinese brands keep the best hardware for themselves and sell us inferior products at sky high prices. What a shame.
4G bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28, 38, 40, 41, 42, 48, 66 - International

Anonymous, 02 Mar 2024Yes it's true. This is what I said a few days ago. And... moreI am buying from Wondamobile already from 2020, so no problem for me buying chinese version (i already have chinese version Mi 11 Ultra ftom Wonda, working fine almost three years), but this too much and a mockery. And no need for global version and making a mockery, just don't release Global version, those who really want such phone, they will buy from Wonda and similar. Xiaomi just doesn't need to pretend and they have to say that they don't want to have and release Global version never wanted it and that's it.
