What that screen show... moreDaidoo Moriyama takes amazing pictures and has only ever used compact cameras since the beginning of the digital age and his switch from film. More than a decade ago it was nikon, now he uses ricoh. Ricoh makes compact cameras with apsc sensors, so not even full frame, and the coolpix he used before used even smaller sensors. And yet his photos are amazing. Skill is always going to be on top, no matter the gear. You're just coping at this point. Like your example skill+new gear > skill+old gear doesn't mean anything, skill is what gets you the photo, the composition, gear is just the thing that saves it and all that new gear does is provide those results slightly faster which you don't seem to understand.

The guy you're replying to is absolutely right, the last of the dslr bodies are still amazing, especially considering mirrorless has only brought improvements to subject tracking and speed(fps), which if you're not someone who does bird photography it's not really that huge of a deal and a dslr would more than suffice, but then again you seem to be the type of person who likes to watch and read stuff about their stuff rather than actually use said stuff, cause if you actually knew what you were talking about you wouldn't spew this bs. Like the type of car guy who knows specs of every sports car there is but can't drive that well on track. But I digress, I recently bought a 5d mark 3 for 400 euros in near perfect condition, it's not as great at video as the mark 4 and is 8mp less but it's amazing for photography, better than any phone that has come out and will come out in the near future, if you actually want to take nice photos this is a better investment than buying a new flagship phone.

          I'm not a fan of the camera placement, but I can understand why Xiaomi did that because of the huge telephoto camera. If the rumours about 4.3x long zoom are right, that means we'll get about 100mm effective focal length instead of the current 120mm.

            Maybe camera body, but + lens, it will cost 5K+.
            Mid range.

            High end full frame mirrorless cameras are also superior.
            Sony Alpha 1 Mark 2, Nikon Z9 Mark 2 and Canon EOS R1.

            Leica SL3 is also a beast.
            A DSLR killer!!!!

            Leica S4 will be a mirrorless camera.
            And Leica knows what they are doing.
            Leica doesn't make cheap or cut corners!!!!
            They make high end stuff.
            (this is a rumor, so not 100% confirmed.)

              Amazing camera specs although a down grade from the imx 858 ultra wide sensor to a JN5 Sensor and optical finger print scanner instead of an ultra sonic doesn't feel right other than that its a perfect phone

                I did try. I emailed & phoned Xiaomi to find out if ANY of their phones had an Ultrawide that you can use for superwide exquisite panoramas like the iPhone 16 Pro series has, but the answer is NO! Not with the Ultrawide-same answer from One Plus, and Oppo. I wanted to go wider than my 16mm f1.9 on my LG7ThinQ but so far only Apple do the necessary. It does make you wonder , as they are thus all not competitive with an iPhone. I do not understand at all!

                                "Live view" is not a peculiar trait of a mirrorless.
                                "Easier to use" (?) is not a peculiar trait of a mirrorless.

                                They are just the same thing, but one has a mirror inside, the other one not.

                                Comparing a mirrorless from 2025 to a DSLR from 2015 is exactly the same thing as comparing two mirrorless cameras, one from 2025 and the other from 2015.

                                Why companies are not making new DSLRs? Because mirrorless are easier to engineer, and they are just the natural evolution of that tool. Apart from normal techonological refinemets due to time, a top of the line DSLR is not by default worse of any mirrorless.

                                And, to conclude, no: a medium format camera is not inherently better than a full frame. Because if you are a photographer "sensor size" is not the only aspect you must consider when buying new gear. Take wildlife photographers: one of the best choices for them is a M4/3!
