Xiaomi Civi 2 comes with dual front cameras in a centered punch hole
Xiaomi introduced Civi 2 for its Chinese audience today - a new selfie-centric midrange smartphone. The most intriguing bit is the dual selfie camera - it is packed inside a pill-shaped punch hole which is now in the center, imitating Apple’s Dynamic Island.
The phone is also the first Xiaomi with front-facing LED flashes to assist the selfie cameras in low-light conditions.
The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and has three memory options - 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB. The 6.55" screen has Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate. It is a 10-bit panel with support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and full DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.
The Civi 2 is the first phone under the Xiaomi main brand with two selfie cameras - so far we’ve had Redmi and Poco devices with dual front-facing shooters. Here both of them have 32MP sensors - the main has AF and an f/2.0 aperture in front, while the other is for group shots and offers a 100-degree FoV.
The dual-tone front-facing flash has four LEDs, placed right above the screen in the ever-so-thin bezel. According to Xiaomi, they can adapt and provide realistic colors in different environments. The Civi 2 is heavily oriented toward people who like to take selfies, so Xiaomi is offering a lot of AI enhancements, 3D tracking beauty mode, background blur in the video, and a fancy video editor.
There are three cameras on the back that resemble the modular design island on the Xiaomi 12 series. The primary shooter has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor and f/1.8 lens, while the ultrawide-angle camer hasa 20MP sensor and a 115-degree field of view. The third cam is a basic 2MP f/2.4 macro unit.
Xiaomi brought the 4,500 mAh battery from the Civi 1s to the Civi 2, but now it supports faster 67W charging rates. It charges over the PD3.0 standard over the USB-C port.
The Civi 2 has dual 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and an NFC chip. What it does not have is a microSD slot and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Xiaomi Civi 2 arrives in four colors - White, Pink, Blue, and Black. The phone is already up for sale in China, with prices starting from CNY2,399 ($350).

Just so you know: gestural navigation first came out with Palm Pre in 2009, then Nokia's MeeGo and Blackberry's 10 OS, then it was 'bound to be adopted' by Apple and the rest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSgbqCvKQ84
