Leojit Thounaojam, 10 Feb 2020Very low pixel density This phone cannot compete samsungSamsung has reduced default display resolution to Full HD (1920x1080) on their S7 with the Android 7 upgrade. Does it affect sharpness on an AMOLED? I do not know. Usually the physical resolution is fixed, and you can only divide by integral numbers to get satisfactory results (3840x2160 => 1920x1080, 2560x1440 => 1280x720). But on such a small display, you can't tell the difference for most applications. Samsung did it because you can save energy on GPU and AMOLED because less pixels are shown. Aspect ratio is important as well: Most videos have 16:9, and older smartphones like S7 support it perfectly well. New devices have upto 20:9 which get you a black border or stretching artifacts when you watch videos. I like sharp corners and no selfie camera (popup camera) to see all the pixels on the display, and of course no curved display. It is boring to see that manufacturers do the same and do not want to differentiate themselves. Competition does not work well at the moment.
