AnonD-558092, 26 Aug 2020"May" and "is" are dramatically differe... morethis phone is packed with features on par with 1000k+ usd phones but is only priced at 780usd it's gonna cut corners, because it's easily preventable to have your phone not submerge in 2 meters of water and it's protected from rain or accidental water spills and i think people who bought this phone would rather have the 200usd than it having an ip rating

I'd rather they spend the what, 10 bucks it would add to the BOM, to waterproofing and certifying the device. Certitude has a tangible value. I'd pay more for a device that comes with certain guarantees, like quality, ingress protection or security updates. Unless you enjoy wandering blindly into the world, having some certitudes is very valuable.
But I'm not their target audience. Maybe their demographic does want them to cut these corners and are fine with that. As long as it's not forced upon me, I'm fine with that too.
