FRDMST, 30 Mar 2021There are numerous ways to upgrade your phone, and you can ... moreYou see, for an example a 90hz refresh oled display with 800-1200nits is good enough for me, higher end snapdragon 7xx series is also good enough. UFS 3.0 again good enough instead 3.1 , gorilla glass 5 instead of the latest. However when you want nice camera with good sensor, it's getting really complicated. A lot of people don't realize that high resolution crop ≠ optical zoom, because the distortion compressing is completely different. My point is I'm just looking for a reasonable device providing reasonable specs and respecting their customers with fair pricing and Xiaomi was all about that until lasts 2 years in my opinion.

joe nodden, 30 Mar 2021At 650 euros it's not the worst. The non-Pro Mi 11 is priced (currently) everywhere in Europe at 800+ Euro. And not only at the Carriers. This Pro model, if it get officially sold outside of China, will cost easily over 1000 Euro. It don't even want to know the price of the Mi 11 Ultra... :D
If Xiaomi wants to sell their phones at this high prices (& compete with Samsung, Apple, etc), at least they need to rethink their Android Software update policy.

Your rant is valid, but I understand where that came from. Yes it is frustrating when your well-rounded ideal smartphone releases few years later, but my takeaway lesson for me is that this phrase will be stuck forever in my mind "I should have upgrade my smartphone into the latest one.". Why? Because when you buy a smartphone you must be ahead of the news and deliver it to the market. People are not photographers all the time, even your family. But my advice is that you should be looking out for leaks and sell your phone pre-launching of the new one. Play with the price and pay less :) that's all you got to stop this frustration.

*long rant post*
After 5 years with Xiaomi, and after converting family and friends through this period of time I'm moving on from them...
First the ads policy is disgusting, I know you can manually remove them, but that's not the point. It makes you feel like you don't own your phone, but you being a product yourself. And the phone is a personal device.
Second which is the end... They sell their best phones on the Chinese market. So I end up waiting for nothing with months to upgrade from flagship to flagship.
I'm a photographer, and tired of them recycling this outdated samsung sensor with all their phones without adding an optical zoom. And when they finally decide to release a phone that addresses all my concerns they either make it china only or premium ultra price for naive foreigners. So I'm done wi the this company.

The cameras of Mi 10 Pro seem better on paper than Mi 11 Pro...and the price 650 EUR is in China maybe. And IDK if they copy Apple or Samsung and it will come without a charger in the box in Europe, because thats for sure a big NO Buy!

joe nodden, 30 Mar 2021Ok settle for vastly worse cameras, a vastly worse display,... morePrecisely, Samsung is not that good, totally agree.
And then no Bixby and other Sammy control.
I have the Samsung Tab S7+ right now, a hell of a tablet, but I really, really hate all this Sammy stuff control
