Xiaomi Inc admitted that its devices were sending users' personal information back to a server in China prompting howls of protest and an investigation.
SINGAPORE: When popular Chinese handset maker Xiaomi Inc admitted that its devices were sending users' personal information back to a server in China, it prompted howls of protest and an investigation by Taiwan's government.
The affair has also drawn attention to just how little we know about what happens between our smartphone and the outside world.
All these companies could have programmed the device to send data 'back home' to them over a wireless or cellular network - with or without the user's knowledge or consent. In Xiaomi's case, as soon as a user booted up their device it started sending personal data 'back home'.
"What Xiaomi did originally was clearly wrong: they were collecting your address book and sending it to themselves without you ever agreeing to it," said Mikko Hypponen, whose computer security company F-Secure helped uncover the problem. "What's more, it was sent unencrypted."

i just bought it yesterday, but it's 305$ abit expensive here in my region Cambodia. with earphone Mi4 30 and screen 9$.
anyway it's fast phone with amazing earphone sound and i guaranty it's a high quality product.

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2014i should buy xiaomi mi3 or gionee plz suggest Gionee's custom UI, Amigo looks okay but it has a lot of issues while MI3's UI, MIUI has no issues whatsoever. Someone I know had bought a Gionee ELife E7 and it has been having software issues since then.

Hi guys, i'm using this cell phone from last 2 months. when I brought it was amazing and battery performance was very good. but now it drastically reduced, whenever I turned on internet it would get empty very soon. kindly let me know if you have any solution for this issue.
