First, you need to submit a request to Xiaomi, so they can send you a code unblocking your bootloader. This is necessary to overwrite the shop rom it usually comes with the phone.
After your approval, you need to download the program, log in with your mi account and get access to the root. After that, you can upgrade it with the roms downloaded on their site.

Example : redmi 3, redmi 3s, redmi 3 pro, redmi 3x, redmi 3 prime, redmi 4 prime, redmi 4x, redmi note 3 pro, redmi note 4x
Mi is better at performance and usually a little bit expensive, but redmi usually stand for low budget phone

This is a good phone. But I need to buy one more phone that can survive my usage. I want screen on time of 6-10hrs.mi5 can only survive 3-5 on wifi, 1-3hrs in mobile data.

im getting just 3 hrs screen on time for 13 hour from recharge.today i slept at 12am battery is 79% and i waked at 5.30am battery is at 57%.for 5.30 hr standby it loses 22%
please help me guys what is the problem

This is Good smartphone but i use Gretel GT6000 and this is a wonderful phone with Long Lasting battery 6000mAh and you know this phone also have dual rear camera. This is a Good Looking and feature reach phone.

how can do it?
cant we update it with downloading the update package by PC and saving it on phone internal memory..??
what is unlock the boot loader..??
must i do it before manual update..??
please anyone explain me.

Or even better, unlock bootloader, flash twrp and install Lineage or Resurrection Remix or any othe custom firmware.
