Hello, today i decided it was time to buy a new phone [ nexus 5 owner for the past 2.5 years - very happy about it ] . I'am having trouble deciding which should i get [ after some research i ended up between Xiaomi mi5 & Huawei p9 ]. I know that they have a difference about 90-120 euros but still when i compare those 2 i get the feeling that Xiaomi mi5 is so much better. Any opinions ?

Which one ha... moreI'd definitely go with the Mi5 since it's current gen, has a better processor, battery life, and almost certainly a better camera. I'd have to agree with anon that it has a worse design, but it's nothing horrible.

I cas really sceptical at first. But I bought a MI5 from honorbuy & I'm really impressed.
I already have a galaxy S7 (exynos version). The Mi5 impressed me in every single way. There are no heat issues overall, only with a lot of gaming or software updates while the S7 heats a bit while browsing or gaming. The battery is way better, I manage to spend all day with 4g on without any problem. The speaker w nopise concelation is better. The USB type-C is practical, as well as QC3. As for the design (I have black color), It's perfect with only 129g weigh (150+g for S7) & really better hands on. As for the camera, it's better. Just the S7 has a slightly better 4k video.
The MI7 Ui is great one,customisable & works without any problems.
Add to this, I boguht the S7 day of launch for 700 euro & Mi 5 a month later for 350 euro (half the price).

The most defining feature of this phone is also the least identified in the reviews - 'NETCOM 3.0'.
NETCOM 3.0 is the ability for Dual SIM Dual Standby phones to have the secondary SIM on a network better than 2G. This is becoming more important as network operators re-provision 2G spectrum to 4G. Already there are large operators who no longer provide 2G support - China: China Telecom, Canada: Bell Wireless, Chatr, Chatr, Virgin Mobile, Wind. Soon to join them is Australia's largest network: Telstra with 2G support ceasing December 2016, Australia's second largest (of three) network: Optus with 2G support ceasing April 2017 and Canada's Rogers with 2G support ceasing 2018.
Many of the DSDS phones now tout that both SIM1 and SIM2 support 4G/3G/2G (e.g. Galaxy S7 duos and Lumia 640 LTE Dual SIM), but the reality is that this is *either* SIM can be designated as the 'data' SIM and operate on 4G/3G/2G while the 'not currently designated as data' SIM is relegated to 2G. When the carrier you haven't selected as 'data' doesn't support 2G the phone may as well be single SIM.

But IMO, the design coul... moreInitially I thought to have a mi5, but going through some YouTube video reviews it seem to have a lot of software issues and network problem. So I decided to go the other route and try something different, got myself a vivo v3max and a vivo x5max for my dad. Vivo is a unknown brand to the other parts of the world, but I have to admit they make great phones. Vivo. Oppo and oneplus all belong to one mother company bbk electronic. I have to admit this even being a xiaomi fan and in owning a mi4, that v3max may not have the processing power of mi5 with its snap 652 but it is better in many other areas where mi5 fall short. I took the risk and now so happy with my v3max. And x5max is 2015 flagship of vivo and it has the best built phone I have seen till date, it surpasses the iphone 6 quality. And their os is just like apple os.

I'm using 32GB (22.78gb user available) variant with 3gb ram. The available user ram is around 2.1GB.

This is my opinion, if you dont get mi5 pro or any other chinese flagship phone with their official website price they are just not worth buying... a mi5 pro is selling close to Us$600 in a well known internet reseller, with those prices it will be better to forked out a bit more for a proper flafship....

There's no official Xiaomi distributor.. so the trick is, you buy from the well known distributor that ask for slightly higher price then the rest. Chance is, the phone is a real global ROM version, and they provide better after sales services.
But if you happen to buy a malware-ridden hacked Chinese ROM version, you can just unlock the bootloader and flash the official global ROM. The process is not that complicated
