Looking and reviewing the most recent flagship and flagship killers, Mi8 remains a superb device for me, especially after installing Gcam delivering highly competitive photos, both night and day, although for day I still prefer the stock cam, less noise and processing than Gcam. I'm much more inclined to replace the battery than really look for another device, mainly given the price I took it...about $350! What you buy today with that price that is consistently better than Mi8?

    Mi 8 really looks an abandoned device. I'm global stable ROM user, since June 2020 nothing firmware/security updated.

          Just information, as I read on their official update tracker, the newest firmware update is still stable beta version for Mi 8 China, the version V12.0.2.0.QEACNXM still coming with Android 10. Released on October 9, 2020. Maybe here some people got that update due they use China ROM. While for global stable user, no available latest firmware update. As we know, usually after they release china stable beta version, the global version will be released soon. Hopefully!

                  This phone is superb I got this phone 2 yrs ago and until now it still works so good especially i updated it on the new miui 12. Works well for me. No issues so far since I flashed the new miui..

                                  And as I far as I know Xiaomi don't do Beta outside of China period. Used to, but stopped. Mi 8 MIUI China Stable done, went through 2 or 3 Beta stages. Now waiting on Global Stable release.

                                    I retract all previous statements. At this rate MIUI 12 for MI 8 might be never. Taking too long. Poor from Xiaomi. China stable MIUI for MI 8 is done and released. Now just seems like a long wait for the Global version.

                                      Hasn't the MIUI 12 update been already too late? The Mi 8 is a 2nd wave smartphone and a former flagship, bit still 3rd wave and less distinguished phones are getting the update while Mi 8 sticks to MIUI 11. Has anyone outside of China gotten the update?
